The annual pickup of tires and metal begins on Monday, October 5th.
Tires must be removed from the rim. No large tractor or truck tires will be picked up.
Metals include washers, dryers, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc.
The Road Department will only pickup at residences one time.

Road Department Opening
The Lafayette Township Road Department is accepting applications for a Full Time DPW employee. Duties include garbage and recycling pickups as well as the regular duties of the road department. CDL with snow plow experience preferred. Application can be downloaded from the Township website or picked up at the Lafayette Municipal Building, 33 Morris Farm Road, Lafayette, NJ from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Project Name: Re-Advertisement of Route 15 Bridge over Paulins Kill
Project Description: Replacement of the Route 15 bridge over the Paulins Kill river.
Project Stage: Project to move into Stage 3. Traffic will be restored to two travel lanes, one in either direction.
Work Start Date: 09/25/2026
Work Start Time: 800 PM
Work End Date: 01/22/2027
Work End Time: 800 PM
Notice Submission Date: 09/15/2026
Nature of Work: Overnight flagging operation between 8:00PM and 7:00AM the following day, with possible 15-minute full shutdowns if necessary, to establish Stage 3 of the project.
Anticipated Traffic Impacts: The current staging (Stage 2B/2C) directs all traffic through a one-lane alternating-traffic pattern. Stage 3 will return traffic to a two-lane traffic pattern, with one travel lane in either direction. Traffic is expected to be impacted overnight, as the road is re-striped and construction barrier curb is moved.
Description of New Traffic Patterns: Stage 3 will establish two travel lanes, one in either direction. Both travel lanes will be carried by a temporary bridge, which is being constructed during Stage 2B/2C. Temporary traffic signals and lighting which were set up for Stage 2B/2C will be removed for Stage 3.
Comments: The change to Stage 3 is delayed due to unforeseen conditions during the current staging.

Route 15 closed and detoured in both directions for
emergency drainage repairs in Lafayette, Sussex County

Trucks on Route 15 southbound advised to use Route 206 southbound

(Trenton) – Route 15 is closed and detoured in both directions for emergency drainage repairs north of Route 94 in Lafayette, Sussex County.

At approximately 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, September 1, Route 15 was closed and detoured between Mudcut Road and Morris Farm Road/Meadows Road in Lafayette. The closure and detour are necessary for emergency drainage repairs south of the Route 15 Bridge over Paulins Kill. Crews are onsite to evaluate the situation and begin repairs. The following detours will be in place until further notice:

Route 15 northbound Detour:

Motorists on Route 15 northbound will be directed to turn left onto Route 94
Turn right onto Route 206, back to Route 15

Route 15 southbound Detour:

Motorists on Route 15 southbound will be directed to turn right onto Mudcut Road, which becomes Valleyview Road
Turn left onto Route 94, back to Route 15

Trucks on Route 15 southbound are advised to use Route 206 southbound to Route 94.

Please be advised that due to a major structural issue with the bridge, the NJDOT has stopped traffic on Route 15 at Meadows Road and Mudcut Road.
As soon as further information is received about the length of time of this detour, or any other developments, it will be posted.
