We are so deeply moved to find out that the AV Young Marines have joined Wreaths Across America to sponsor wreaths for Lancaster Cemetery Veterans! What an incredible act of service from an amazing group of young people!

If you are planning to sponsor a wreath with us this year, please consider sponsoring through the AV Young Marines’ fundraiser. Every wreath sponsored through their page helps honor one of our veterans AND helps them raise funds for their organization.

We would absolutely LOVE to see them reach their goal!

Young Marines, thank you for honoring our Lancaster Cemetery Veterans.

Wreaths Across America ("WAA") coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies every December to "Remember, Honor, and Teach" about the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families. Please check out this page to learn how you can help by sponsoring Veterans Remembrance Wreaths or by joining us on Decembe...

Today, we remember United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Mark A. Ferguson on the anniversary of the day he was killed in action in Quang Tri, South Vietnam.

Mark was just 19 years old and a graduate of Antelope Valley High School. His name is forever honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and here at Lancaster Cemetery, where his story remains an important part of our Veterans Court.

At his grave, a bronze plaque displays the words of a poem written by Mark and his fellow Marines—a memorial first dedicated by his community in 1966.

Today, our staff cut a rose from our historic Pioneer Section and placed it at Mark’s grave in remembrance.

More than half a century later, Lancaster still remembers one of its own.

Today, AVCD Staff had the honor of attending the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Antelope Valley Fallen Heroes Memorial.

It was incredibly meaningful to stand alongside so many of our own local heroes, including members of the CHP, U.S. Forest Service – Angeles National Forest, Lancaster Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Palmdale Sheriff Explorers, and Los Angeles County Fire Department.

One of the most moving moments was looking to the sky as aircraft from LASD, CHP, and LA County Fire flew overhead. It gave us chills and was a powerful reminder of the courage, service, and sacrifice we honor on this day.

It was a beautiful morning of remembrance and community—a chance to come together, reflect, and remember those we lost on September 11, 2001, as well as the first responders and countless others whose lives were forever changed.

We are grateful to have been there and proud to stand with our Antelope Valley community.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

A New Way to Remember

At Lancaster Cemetery, we understand that some days hold a special place in our hearts.

Whether you're celebrating a loved one's birthday, remembering the anniversary of their passing, or honoring another meaningful occasion, we invite you to stop by the cemetery office and request one of our complimentary "Remembering Your Special Day" flags.

Simply place the flag at your loved one's memorial during your visit.

When our grounds crew sees the white remembrance flag, they will know to leave decorations in place for one additional week, allowing your family a little more time to celebrate and remember together.

This small gesture is our way of honoring the moments that continue to matter long after a loved one is gone.

The flags are available at no cost during regular office hours. We are honored to be part of remembering those special days with you.

What an incredible day at the BOGA Veteran Stand Down!

We were honored to meet so many Veterans, hear their stories, and connect with the organizations and service providers who work every day to support our Antelope Valley Veteran community.

Events like these remind us how important it is to come together, share resources, and ensure our Veterans know they are valued, remembered, and supported.

A heartfelt thank you to BOGA for organizing such a meaningful and well-executed event. Bringing Veterans and community partners together under one roof takes tremendous effort, and we are grateful to have been part of it.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, shared a conversation, picked up information about our Veteran programs, or simply said hello. We look forward to seeing many of you again at our upcoming Veterans Day, and Wreaths Across America events.
