October 28th sets aside National First Responders Day to honor the men and women who act quickly when an emergency is at hand.

First responders dedicate their lives to save lives. They are the people who run toward a crisis while the rest of the world flees. According to the Department of Homeland Security, 4.6 million career and volunteer first responders support the communities where they live. They are firefighters, police, emergency medical technicians (EMT), paramedics, and 911 operators. In an emergency, they're the first on the scene. These dedicated professionals answer the call when a crisis arises, often putting their own lives on the line.

No cliff to steep, no mountain too high.
Our team successfully executed a complex high-angle rope rescue last week to rescue a dog and it's sitter. Using specialized technical rope rigging, our rescue technicians rappelled down to the scene, secured both the sitter and their furry companion and hauled them to safety. We are happy to report that despite a major scare, both the dog sitter and the pup are unharmed and in good spirits! 🐕✨
A massive thank you to our dedicated crew who train rigorously for these exact moments.

Fire Prevention Week! 🔥🚒
This week, our crews got to visit schools across the south end of Whidbey Island and spend time teaching students about staying safe!
Each class and grade learned about topics suited to their age, including helmet safety, first aid, water safety, natural disaster preparedness, and fire safety. We also shared a little about what we do as firefighters, the gear we wear, and how it helps protect us while helping others. 🧑‍🚒
One of our favorite parts of these visits is giving students a chance to ask questions and get comfortable with the firefighters they might see during an emergency.
Thank you to the schools, teachers, and students for welcoming us! We love getting to connect with our community and help our youngest neighbors learn skills they can carry with them. ❤️
