A letter from our board:

Dear Laramigos:

For decades, Laramie Interfaith has provided holiday meal kits to neighbors in need. We remain committed to supporting our community, but we must also recognize the growing challenges this program presents. As food costs continue to rise for households in our community, they have also increased significantly for Laramie Interfaith. Since 2020 alone, national food costs have risen by more than 30 percent, affecting both the neighbors we serve and our ability to meet growing needs.

Our mission is to help ensure our neighbors have their basic needs met—not only during the holiday season, but year-round. Regardless of the time of year or the circumstances a household may be facing, we strive to maintain a well-stocked pantry with a variety of food options available to those who need assistance.

With this in mind, Laramie Interfaith will limit its 2026 Thanksgiving meal kits to family households, defined as households with children (18 years old and under) in the home. Additionally, we will continue to support the Community Thanksgiving Meal held at the Eppson Center for Seniors on Thanksgiving, helping ensure that an alternative meal option remains available for individuals and smaller households.

We recognize that this change may disappoint many community members. Since 2020, the Thanksgiving meal program has more than tripled in reach. As demand has grown, so have the logistical challenges, food quantities, and costs required to sustain the program. While we are proud of the support this program has provided, its continued growth is now placing increasing pressure on the resources needed to maintain our daily operations and year-round services.

This change will allow Laramie Interfaith to continue meeting our neighbors' immediate and ongoing needs—not just during the holidays, but every day of the year.

LIEAP is a federally funded program that helps eligible residents cover a portion of their monthly winter heating bills. If approved for LIEAP seasonal benefits, households may qualify for a one-time extra benefit if they have a heating emergency, such as past-due bills, utility deposits or a broken furnace.

The application window for seasonal and crisis assistance runs October 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027. Apply online at mylieapwyo.org. If you can't apply online, call (800) 246-4221, and the LIEAP team can help with your application over the phone.

To qualify for LIEAP, applicants must be Wyoming residents with households whose gross annual income (before taxes) is at or below 60% of the state's median income. For example, this includes limits of $2,988 a month for an individual, $3,908 for a couple or $5,747 for a family of four. Homeowners, renters and residents of permanently parked RVs or campers are all eligible to apply.

Effective October 1, households requesting crisis assistance must show a recent active effort to pay energy bills. To qualify, the household must have made at least one verifiable payment toward their primary utility, secondary utility or both within the past 60 days. If this cannot be verified, the client is not eligible for crisis assistance.

The Wyoming Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) can help you and your family stay warm this winter. LIEAP is a federally funded program that helps eligible, hard-working Wyoming families, seniors and individuals pay a portion of their winter home heating costs.

Last Sunday members from Laramie Plainsmen Highschool Football team brought us 811 lbs of food from their food drive and sorted it for us! Thank you to everyone who participated and the students who helped sort the food on a Sunday morning. 💙

We would like to recognize and thank Ivinson Memorial Hospital's Urgent Care for 991 lbs of food donated! By hosting a food drive to support our community they provided nearly 1,000 lbs of food for those in need. Thank you!💙
