Congratulations to Senior Business Specialist Chris Sproule, City of Las Vegas October 2026 Employee of the Month!

With 26 years of service to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, Chris has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and innovation. Serving as the department’s strategic planner, accreditation manager, grant writer, and data analyst, he played a key role in achieving CPSE Accredited Agency status in 2025, developing the department’s Strategic Plan, Community Risk Assessment and Standards of Cover, and Self-Assessment Manual. Throughout his career, Chris has secured nearly $30 million in grant funding to support staffing, equipment, and critical public safety initiatives. His commitment to organizational improvement, collaboration, and innovation continues to strengthen the department and the services provided to the Las Vegas community.

Congratulations to our members who graduated from The Las Vegas Fire Technical Rescue (TRT) academy today. These firefighters successfully completed a rigorous 7 week course, learning advanced skills in high/low angle rescue, swift water, vehicle extrication, confined space and much more.

This past weekend, recent Las Vegas Firefighters Las Vegas Fire & Rescue retiree Jacqueline Belluomini was inducted into the SERVPRO Firefighter Challenge Hall of Fame! Jacque boasts an impressive list of accolades within the challenge, such as multiple world championships and world records. These feats were all achieved during her dedicated career as a firefighter, paramedic and captain with LVFR. In her retirement, Jacque and her husband, AJ Sr (also LVFR retiree), now operates in many roles for the Firefighter Challenge, including officiating the games. Congratulation, Captain Belluomini!

Earlier this month, while playing basketball off duty, Firefighter/ Advanced EMT Phillip Shamburger witnessed an individual suffering from a medical episode. After assessing the situation, Firefighter Shamburger determined that CPR was necessary and began life saving measures, including compressions and multiple defibrillations with the on site AED, before Las Vegas Fire & Rescue resources arrived and took over patient care.

The individual was transferred to the emergency room, where he continued to receive intensive care and cardiac related surgery. We are happy to report that he is recovering well.

We are very proud of Firefighter Shamburger and his efforts that certainly played a roll in saving the young man’s life. This is a true testament that your Las Vegas Firefighters are never truly ‘off duty’. We are proud to represent our members, who will passionately care for those in need, whether in uniform or not.
