Jones County 4-H and FFA Exhibitors!!!! Make plans to attend the Jones County Junior Livestock Meeting on Tuesday, November 10th 6pm at the Magnolia Center! At this meeting we will review important information pertaining to the JCJLA Junior Livestock Show and Sale, South MS District Livestock Show, and Dixie National Junior Round-Up!!! ATTENTION LIVESTOCK PRODUCERS:

Disaster Assistance for 2026 Livestock Forage Losses Due to Drought

Producers in Jones County are eligible to apply for 2026 Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) benefits on improved pasture.

LFP provides compensation if you suffer grazing losses for covered livestock due to drought on privately owned or cash leased land or fire on federally managed land.

County committees can only accept LFP applications after notification is received by the National Office of qualifying drought or if a federal agency prohibits producers from grazing normal permitted livestock on federally managed lands due to qualifying fire. You must complete a CCC-853 and the required supporting documentation no later than March 1, 2027 for 2026 losses.

Applications accepted by appointment ONLY!

For additional information about LFP, including eligible livestock and fire criteria, contact the Jones County USDA Service Center at 601-425-4622 Ext. 2 or visit fsa.usda.gov.

🐮🎡 It’s almost cattle show time at the South Mississippi Fair! 🎡🐮

We’re excited to welcome all our cattle exhibitors this weekend! Here are a few reminders as you prepare to arrive:

🍀 Gate Entrance: Enter through Gate 1 (Livestock Gate).

🎟️ Cattle Exhibitor Passes: Passes will be available for pickup during cattle check-in.

🐮 Shavings: Just a friendly reminder that all exhibitors are responsible for bringing their own shavings.

We can’t wait to see everyone and kick off a great weekend of showing! 🍀

🐔 🍀 Join us in congratulating a couple of our Jones County 4-H Poultry Chain Exhibitors, William and Luke Caldwell. 🐔 🍀

They both competed at the 2026 MS State Fair! Luke exhibited his Jersey Giants, and William exhibited his Blue Laced Wyandottes, bringing home 1st Place in the Junior Division.

🍀 We are proud of their dedication and hard work that they put into their Poultry Chain Project! 🍀

🐔🐰 SMF 4-H Poultry Chain/Rabbit Show: Deadline to register, October 19th -- Registration Forms/Fees will need to be turned into the Jones County Extension Office by 5PM. See details and flyer below. Give us a call if you need an Entry Form or additional information, 601-428-5201.

🎨🌹 SMF Arts & Crafts/Horticulture Exhibits: Check-in Date - Wednesday, October 21st from 1PM - 6PM at the Laurel Fairgrounds in the Art Building. See flyer below for more details.
