Tail Dragger has good advice -
"Tend to your business
Please leave mine alone
How can you run my home
When you can't run your own?"

Politics, places, and people are foundational elements of blues music, and Tail Dragger was a great storyteller, weaving stories and delivering an impossible-to-ignore message. His powerful voice punctuated carefully chosen words, while his commanding stage performances made them even more meaningful.

Here is a sample listen of some of the great stories Tail Dragger delivered. Hope to see everyone today at the unveiling honoring an original who helped put Altheimer, Arkansas, on the map of Delta blues history.

Final update on Taildragger Saturday!!! Arkansas River Delta Blues Trail Taildragger Jones marker dedication starts at 11:00 am on Main Street in Altheimer Arkansas. From there we move to Jones Park for the third annual Taildragger day festival. We have an amazing group of musicians that will perform, jam, freakin hootenanny or whatever it is called for theirs, and your enjoyment. Playing with a group of local wonderful musicians is Mojo Mark Edwards and Jimmy Upstairs (I’m not making any of this up) from Taildragger’s Chicago band. Also volunteering from the Arkansas River Blues Society is Fonky Donkey and friends. Throw in Jason Lee Hale and Billy Jeter Music and who knows who else will show up. We are going to have a great time in a nice Arkansas Delta park playing Chicago and Delta blues like it is meant to be played. Come have fun with us today (Saturday October 24th) After that is over the Port City Blues Society cranks it up Rosie Pettigrew in Pine Bluff. We do it in the delta because it is just better there!!!!!

Here is an update on Saturday’s events in Altheimer Ark for the Taildragger Jones marker dedication. The Arkansas River Delta Blues Trail and the city of Altheimer, Arkansas, will formally dedicate the Taildragger (James Yancey Jones) marker on Front Street at 11:00am Saturday morning. From there, we move to Altheimer Jones Park for the annual Taildragger Day Festival. Taildragger’s family and friends, the city of Altheimer, and the Arkansas River Delta Blues Trail are behind this labor of love. Musical acts will perform on the Gerald Williams stage. We expect acts from Pine Bluff and Little Rock to participate. We are still in fundraising mode for this event and would like to thank the Miles Goggins/McFerrin Ferguson family for our first donation. The Billy and Susan Jeter family has also provided funding. We have room for lots more; don’t be shy!!

Enjoy a beautiful fall day in the Arkansas Delta as we celebrate one of our most iconic characters and bluesmen.
