🚨 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO OUR COMMUNITY 🚨

The dumpster located at the firehouse is NOT FOR PUBLIC USE.

We have recently had multiple instances of individuals disposing of items such as old appliances, baby items, household belongings, and other large items in our station dumpster.

Unfortunately, this has caused the dumpster to become overfilled, requiring the waste company to make additional pickups before our scheduled service date. These additional pickups result in extra costs for our fire department—money that could otherwise be used toward equipment, training, and serving our community.

We kindly ask everyone to please respect the dumpster and do not dispose of personal or household items in it. The dumpster is intended strictly for fire department use.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding as we work to keep our station and community clean while making the best use of the resources entrusted to our department.

The Trevilians Volunteer Fire Department send prayers for a speedy recovery to the Louisa Counry Fire and EMS crew that were involved in the crash this afternoon in Squad 6. We were fortunate that none of our volunteers were on the apparatus at the time of the incident. Apparatus and equipment can be replaced but the lives of our first responders cannot. We are grateful that the crew is still with us and recovering well. May God bless us all and provide a healing hand.

Subject: Single-Vehicle Incident Involving Fire Department Apparatus

This afternoon, a Louisa County fire department apparatus from the Trevillians Fire Station was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Oakland Road while responding to a call.

Both crew members on board were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation, and both are in stable condition. No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident.

The cause of the accident is currently under review. Further details will be released as they become available.

Captain Makayla Jasinski recently had the privilege of teaching CPR, AED, and First Aid to the wonderful members of Louisa Baptist Church.

At Trevilians Volunteer Fire Department, Captain Jasinski is dedicated to serving the community through education. In addition to training firefighters, she also provides CPR, AED, and First Aid instruction to community members who want to gain lifesaving skills and make a difference.

Knowing how to respond in an emergency can save a life. If you, your organization, church, or business are interested in scheduling a CPR, AED, or First Aid class, please reach out to Captain Makayla Jasinski for more information. Together, we can build a safer and better-prepared community.

Today, we are saddened with the unexpected loss of one of our members. Assistant Chief Craig Melson passed away this morning from a medical emergency. Assistant Chief Melson was and will always be a corner stone of this department. Serving as a line officer, executive officer, or as a senior firefighter, Chief Melson touched so many lives in his service of others. However, we must recognize his greatest achievements in life, while he was a friend and mentor to so many he was a husband, father, grandfather, and brother. We at Trevilians Volunteer Fire Department ask for prayers for Chief Melson's family as they go through this emotionally difficult time.

Today, we proudly witnessed a major milestone for one of our own as a fellow member received his black helmet, signifying that he is now both Firefighter and Hazmat certified.

Pictured below is Firefighter/EMT Joshua Campbell alongside career personnel Firefighter/EMT Dawson Taylor, who had the honor of presenting Joshua with the black helmet — a proud symbol representing his achievement and transition into becoming a firefighter within Louisa County.

Firefighter/EMT Campbell has recently accepted a position with Louisa County Fire and EMS, embarking on an exciting new journey in the fire service. Over the past year, Joshua has shown tremendous dedication, commitment, and growth, and we could not be more proud of all he has accomplished during his time with us.

We congratulate Joshua on this achievement and wish him continued success as he advances his career. We hope you enjoy your time with Louisa County, continue learning, and build many lasting experiences along the way. Stay safe and congratulations, Joshua!
