💙💛 A Busy and Inspiring Day at Macomb Rotary! 💛💙

Our October 6th meeting was full of inspiration, recognition, and opportunities to make a difference in our community and around the world!

🌟 A Special Visit from Our District Governor

We were honored to welcome 2026–27 District Governor Musonda Kapatamoyo of the Rotary Club of Edwardsville. Originally from Zambia, Governor Kapatamoyo shared his experiences in Rotary and challenged us to think about how our community would be different without Rotary’s presence and contributions. Photos of past club projects highlighted the lasting impact our members have made right here in Macomb. His inspiring message reminded us why our service matters and earned him a well-deserved standing ovation!

🏆 Celebrating Rotary Foundation Giving

We also welcomed District Rotary Foundation Chair Emily Jacob-Dudesill, who recognized Nick Estes, Tom Stites, and Ann Stites for achieving Major Donor status through their generous contributions to The Rotary Foundation.

Their generosity helps support literacy, education, youth programs, community projects, international service, and the fight to eradicate polio. We are grateful for their commitment to making a difference both locally and globally! 🌎❤️

📚 Supporting Spoon River College

Michelle Howe, Interim Foundation Director at Spoon River College, shared updates on the college’s fundraising efforts and announced that its annual fundraising event has been renamed Founder’s Day, scheduled for October 15, 2026. She encouraged our members to help the college reach its fundraising goal.

✨ What Brings It All Together? The Rotary Four-Way Test!

At the heart of Rotary is a simple but powerful guide for how we think, speak, and act:

1️⃣ Is it the TRUTH?

2️⃣ Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3️⃣ Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4️⃣ Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

These four questions remind us to lead with honesty, fairness, kindness, and a commitment to the greater good.

Our October 6th meeting was a wonderful reminder that Rotary is about more than meetings. It’s about people coming together to serve, support one another, and create lasting, positive change.

💙 Service Above Self — making a difference in Macomb and beyond!

While hospice enrollment signifies a terminal prognosis, it also provides the most unique and personalized health care support for both the patient and family currently available. Hospice care is focused on CARE and COMFORT over cure of the disease.

The MDH Hospice has a Five-Star Family satisfaction rating, recognizing a meaningful reflection of our commitment to making every moment matter for those we serve. We are honored by the trust patients and families place in us and our greatest success is knowing the patients and their families feel cared for, respected, and supported when the focus is care, not cure. The MDH Hospice provides compassionate care for people and their families in the comfort of their own home, nursing home or assisted living facility. Our professional team is made up of physicians, registered nurses, therapists, social workers, certified nurse aides and volunteers.

Thanks for a great program today, Dr. Robinett!

Jeremy Robinett, Ph.D., serves as Acting Administrator in Charge of Western Illinois University Athletics during Interim Director of Athletics Shelby Borchardt's maternity leave. In this role, Robinett provides executive leadership for the Department of Athletics, overseeing departmental operations and supporting the University's commitment to student-athlete success while maintaining continuity in strategic initiatives and daily operations.

A member of the Western Illinois University faculty since 2014, Robinett is Director of the School of Communication, Media, and Experience Industries and Professor of Recreation, Sport, and Tourism Administration. He has served as Western Illinois University's NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) since 2023 and currently represents the University on the NCAA Division I Academics and Eligibility Committee. As FAR, he serves as the primary liaison between the institution and the NCAA on matters related to academic integrity, student-athlete eligibility, rules compliance, and the overall educational well-being of student-athletes.

"Intercollegiate athletics play an important role in the educational mission of Western Illinois University," Robinett said. "I am honored to serve in this capacity and remain committed to supporting our student-athletes, coaches, and staff while ensuring that our department continues to move forward during this transition."

His work has focused on strengthening academic support for student-athletes, enhancing institutional compliance, fostering collaboration between Athletics and the broader University community, and advancing initiatives that promote student success. His collaborative leadership style and experience in academic administration, NCAA governance, and strategic planning have positioned him to provide leadership during this transitional period for Leatherneck Athletics.

Originally from southern Missouri, Robinett earned his bachelor's degree from Missouri State University and his master's and Ph.D. in Recreation, Sport and Tourism from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
