The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs was recently recognized for our 'Catch a Co-Worker' program as a recipient of the annual 2026 SCAA Influence Award. It recognizes that supporting employees is inseparable from delivering quality service to veterans and their families. By listening to employee feedback, the Department created a visible, inclusive way to celebrate employee contributions. It recognizes WDVA's initiative advances employee support, service quality, and organizational effectiveness throughout Wisconsin - including our administrative offices, our skilled nursing veterans homes, and our state veterans memorial cemeteries.

The award was accepted by WDVA Secretary James Bond and was presented by Governor Tony Evers and Wisconsin Department of Administration Secretary Kathy Blumenfeld.

We'd like to say thank you to everyone who stopped by WDVA's info tables to ask questions about your eligible benefits and services at the Fond du Lac Veteran and Community Resource Fair yesterday.

Our colleagues Mark Provencher Jr. and Nick Brewer from the Veteran Outreach and Recovery Program (VORP) joined Jeremy Otto from our outreach team to talk to veterans and attendees about accessing their veteran benefits and resources.

A special thank you to our hosts from the Fond du Lac County Veterans Service Office and other service organizations at the event who stand side by side with WDVA in our shared mission to serve the veteran and military community in Wisconsin!

Members, staff, and volunteers at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King welcomed dancers and drummers from various Wisconsin Tribal Nations for a special cultural gathering!

The visitors demonstrated traditional dances, including one honoring veterans, with King Home members — including Moses Hall’s Richard Kaquatosh of the Menominee Tribe — joining in on many of the dances.
The tribal social dance celebrated Indigenous culture while building connections and community between tribal members and the King Home.
