If you are 18 years old or older, we would love to tell you about the benefits given to our members. Welcome to the Official page of the Yorkshire Volunteer Fire Department. The Yorkshire Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1948 and went into service in 1952. Breeden donated the land to the fire department, and the residents of Yorkshire built the original building on Centreville Rd. Our new station opened up in 2005 on Patton Lane and the original building was sold. Our first due area is approximately six square miles. Within this area, we serve approximately 2,800 homes, 10,000 residents, and 150 businesses. Our equipment consists of two engines, two ambulances, a heavy rescue, two utility vehicles, and three Chief's vehicles.

Remembering Retired Fire Chief Walter Davis

It is with great sadness that the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of Retired Fire Chief Walter Davis, who passed away peacefully this morning.

Chief Davis joined the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department in 1996 and served faithfully until his retirement in 2020. During those 24 years, he rose through the ranks to become Fire Chief, helping guide our department through some of the most significant changes in its history.

His tenure included a period of tremendous change in the Prince William County fire and rescue system. From the increasing demands placed on volunteer departments to provide around-the-clock staffing on nights and weekends, to the eventual transition to 24/7 career staffing, Chief Davis helped lead Lake Jackson through each of these challenges. He understood the importance of adapting to a changing fire service while preserving the traditions, identity, and volunteer spirit that made Lake Jackson special. Our department is stronger today because of his leadership.

Chief Davis was also a tireless advocate for the volunteer fire service. He believed deeply in the value of community service and the people willing to give their time to help others. One of his favorite sayings captured that belief perfectly: "The greatest gift you can give is your time." It was more than something he said; it was how he lived.

But those who knew Walter will remember much more than his leadership.

Walter never lost his Southern charm, his distinctive accent, or his sense of humor. Whether you were sitting around the station listening to one of his stories or hearing his unmistakable voice over the radio, you always knew when Walter was around. His personality was as much a part of Lake Jackson as the fire trucks and the station itself.

For those of us who had the privilege of serving alongside him, Chief Davis was more than a former chief. He was a friend, a mentor, and a part of the fabric of our department. His contributions cannot be measured simply in years of service or the positions he held, but in the people he influenced and the department he helped build.

As we remember Chief Davis, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.

Funeral arrangements are being finalized by the family, and we will share additional information as it becomes available.

Rest easy, Chief. Thank you for your leadership, your friendship, and the countless hours you gave to Lake Jackson. Your legacy lives on in the department and the people you served.

Last night, we had the privilege of presenting Children’s National with a check from the proceeds of our 2026 Car Show.

What started as a day celebrating cars, community, and our members turned into something much bigger. We are proud to support the incredible work being done at Children’s National and grateful to everyone who helped make this possible.

Thank you to our sponsors, participants, volunteers, and community for making a difference with us.

🚗🔥 What an incredible day.

The 3rd Annual YVFD Charity Car Show is in the books, and we are BLOWN AWAY by the support from this community.

Huge thank you to our Title Sponsor Patriot Disposal, all of our amazing sponsors, vendors, and volunteers who gave their time and resources to make this thing run. Great music, great camaraderie, and an even better cause.

To every owner who rolled in with their cars, trucks, and motorcycles, you made the lot absolutely electric. The builds were unreal. 🔥 Special thanks to the Prince William County Police Department for bringing their 1972 Plymouth Fury III and new 5.0 Mustang!

Every registration, every sponsorship dollar, and every 50/50 + raffle prizes ticket purchase goes directly to the Yorkshire Volunteer Fire Department and Children’s National. That's what this is all about.

Cant wait to see you again next year. 🙏❤️🚒

YVFD is proud to recognize three of our members who have successfully completed the EMT-Basic course at the Prince William County Public Safety Training Center.

Over the past several months, these dedicated volunteers spent two nights a week in class and gave up their Saturdays to gain the skills needed to serve our community as EMTs.

They’re now prepared to take the NREMT written exam, the final step toward earning their Virginia EMT-Basic certification.

Please join us in congratulating them on their hard work, dedication, and commitment to service! đź’Şđźš‘
