STATE BOUND 🏃

Lincoln senior Natalie Portmann is headed off to the WIAA State Cross Country Championship tomorrow! The whole school came together to cheer on her send-off 🎉

Natalie is a four time state qualifier and school record holder in the 5k with a time of 18:39. She is the only Ships girls' cross country runner to ever run sub 19:00 for 5k, which she has done now numerous times, and ran her second fastest time of her career 18:43 at Sectionals this past weekend to qualify for the WIAA state meet.

Running has inspired Natalie in many ways, "Cross country has taught me that you are way more capable of yourself than you think you are."

It’s easy to see why Forensic Science is a popular class at Lincoln High School: students get to step into the role of investigators and put science to work.

In Mr. Hall’s course, Ships take part in hands-on activities as they learn to observe carefully, ask questions, and analyze evidence. Along the way, they get a glimpse of how these skills are used in real-world forensic science careers.

Congratulations to See ViXai Thao, one of the The Chamber of Manitowoc County Future 15 Award recipients!

At MPSD, Mr. Thao serves as dean of students and school social worker at Washington Middle School, school social worker at Lakeshore School of Innovation, and an advisor to Lincoln High School’s Hmong American Club.

He believes small moments can make a lasting difference for students: “It is these simple gestures that lead to lifetime resilience, memories, and the future successes of our students.”

He also gives back beyond the school day, volunteering as an advocate for older adults in long-term care and helping prepare meals for Manitowoc’s warming shelter. Looking ahead, he plans to partner with NAMI Manitowoc as a peer advocate and lead community support groups.

“Being a Dreamer gives me hope for Manitowoc County’s future,” he says. We’re proud to celebrate See and the many ways he supports students, families, and our community!

The juniors attended the Wisconsin Education Fair (WEF) at Lakeland University!

What an amazing opportunity for students to learn about their postsecondary options! There were up to 150 representatives from colleges, universities, trade schools, specialty schools, military branches, and national service organizations (including UW, private, technical, and out-of-state options).

Today the Lincoln Band went on their annual elementary school tour 🎶

It was incredible to see how inspiring their presence was. Hopefully many in the audience will be the ones preforming in a few years! Go Ships! ⚓

Join Monroe Elementary School at McDonald’s on Calumet Avenue on Tuesday, October 20, from 4–7 PM for McTeacher Night! 🍟

A percentage of the profits made during the event will be donated back to Monroe!

OCTOBER 20TH!! Tomorrow visit McDonald's on calumet from 4-7 pm and grab some food to help our school! BONUS.. being mcteachers night, you will see some familiar friendly faces around the restaurant bringing you your food!
