Reminder: Winter Parking Restrictions

As winter approaches, the City of Maple Plain reminds residents that winter parking restrictions are in effect from November 1 through April 15. These restrictions help City crews safely and efficiently clear snow from local streets.
Winter Parking Rules

During the winter parking season:
• No on-street parking is allowed between 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
• When three or more inches of snow has accumulated, on-street parking is prohibited at all times until the street has been completely plowed from curb to curb.

Even outside the overnight restriction, vehicles must be removed from the street following a snowfall of three inches or more.

Keeping vehicles off the street gives snowplow operators the space needed to clear the entire roadway and helps make streets safer for everyone.

Please plan ahead and make sure vehicles are moved off City streets when parking restrictions are in effect.

Thank you for helping keep Maple Plain streets safe and accessible throughout the winter season.

Fall Street Sweeping and Hydrant Flushing
Maple Plain Public Works will conduct fall street sweeping and hydrant flushing to prepare City infrastructure for winter. Street sweeping is scheduled to begin October 19, 2026, with a focus on removing leaves before snow arrives. Clearing leaves helps prevent clogged catch basins, flooding, and other drainage issues. Sweeping may be less effective early in the season because of heavy leaf accumulation, and progress will depend on rain, snow, and temperatures.

Fall hydrant flushing will begin October 26, 2026, and proceed through the City in sections shown on the flushing map. Each section may take one or two days to complete. Hydrant flushing is an important part of maintaining the City’s water distribution system and supporting water quality. During the process, residents may notice temporarily discolored water, pressure changes, or a stronger chlorine odor. Sediment in the water is not a health concern.
