Margate’s beloved Lucy the Elephant has received unanimous approval for a $5.4 million tax credit award from the NJEDA!

This exciting milestone brings Lucy one step closer to a new visitor center, interior restoration, and surrounding park.

At 145 years young, Lucy’s future is looking brighter than ever! ❤️🐘

🐘 HUGE NEWS FOR LUCY! 🎉

Lucy the Elephant has received unanimous approval for a $5.4 million tax credit award from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA)!

This milestone brings us a giant step closer to an exciting new chapter for our beloved landmark:

✨ A new visitor and interpretive center
✨ Completion of Lucy’s interior restoration
✨ A world-class surrounding park

“This is an extraordinary day for Lucy,” said Executive Director Richard Helfant. “After 17 months of uncertainty and perseverance, we have finally reached a turning point.”

These plans will help preserve Lucy for future generations and create a visitor experience worthy of one of New Jersey’s most beloved landmarks.
