The McPherson Park Department is one of 3 departments under the "City of McPherson Public Lands and Facilities Department."

The McPherson Park Department is committed to providing the highest quality of service to the citizens of McPherson. We strive to have direct lines of communication open with the public to better determine what our priorities should be. This page will allow us to answer questions about our parks, areas we maintain and to let the public know when we have a special event planned.

Let's get you all signed up. Think your group has what it takes to set up an award-winning display in the Lights from the Heartland display? Reserve your 20x20 space in the park. Displays should be ready to light up by Thanksgiving!

⚠️Beginning today (Oct. 26, 2026) the City of McPherson Park Department will begin shutting down restroom facilities in the parks.
The restrooms are closed near the end of October each year as the threat of nightly freezing temperatures looms.
Some climate-controlled facilities will remain open — Challenger Park and the Wall Park tennis court and baseball/softball complex.
All other facilities will be winterized and closed until spring.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for the dedication of our new Butterfly Garden in Challenger Park.
This year-long project — aided by so many supporters and hard work from staff — is a wonderful example of repurposing an unused area of the park and turning it into something beautiful and beneficial for our community.
With 30 different types of plants already in place, and tulip bulbs ready to be planted, it’s an exciting addition to a park that has seen so many great improvements during the last few years.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Bring on spring! 🦋🌺🌷
