LOOK WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED TOGETHER!💕

On October 22, we reached out to our community for help, and you showed up!

🐾October 1–22: 30 dogs came in, and we had only 4 adoptions.

🏡 October 22–29: Just ONE week later, we had 16 adoptions and only 4 new dogs come in!

For perspective, we had just 8 dog adoptions during ALL of September. After asking for help, we QUADRUPLED our October adoptions in just one week! YAY!👏

To everyone who adopted, shared our posts, or helped spread the word — THANK YOU! Whether you’re local or following us from miles away, you’ve helped make a difference.

❤️ 16 dogs, 16 new beginnings, and a community of people who helped make it happen. Let’s keep it going! We still have animals looking for homes. Please visit https://www.louisacounty.gov/3490/Animal-Shelter to learn more about our shelter and ways you can continue to help us, help them.

The Louisa County Animal Shelter operates under guidelines from the Commonwealth of Virginia to temporarily house stray or injured animals, provide for adoption of as many animals as possible and to humanely euthanize unwanted animals.

Do you know anything about us?

"Truth" and "Dare" (orange and white) were recently left inside the Tractor Supply Co., located at 8986 Courthouse Rd., Louisa, VA.

and

"Boo" (brown tabby) was left inside the Betty Queen Center- 522 Industrial Dr, Louisa, VA.

Just a little clarification about stray cats: 🐾 Louisa County Animal Shelter typically only takes in cats who are sick, injured, or in need of shelter intervention (owner surrendering). Since cats are free-roaming animals, healthy community cats are generally best left where they are if they are thriving in their environment. This helps us keep shelter space available for animals who are truly in need of our care.
