The renovation of our Red Cross office in Alexandria is officially complete!

They say many hands make light work, and this project was the ultimate proof. Every step of the way—from scraping wallpaper, to laying down those final coats of paint—was a total team effort.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who pitched in to create a functional, welcoming and organized space for our volunteers. Special thanks to the Alexandria Sherwin-Williams for the generous donation of paint and supplies to complete our project.

The American Red Cross is proud to be an active part of the Alexandria community, providing vital services, support, and disaster relief to local residents when they need it most. Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce City of Alexandria KXRA 1490 AM Voice of Alexandria Echo Press

“My father was a veterinarian, so from an early age, I had a connection with animals.” ❤️🐾

That lifelong connection took on special meaning when American Red Cross volunteer Katie Gilmore responded to a home fire in eastern South Dakota.

Katie, a retired physician assistant, provided oxygen to a cat suffering from smoke inhalation, helping it recover at the scene. She continues to support the cat's owner through Red Cross Health Services.

Sometimes, compassion means understanding what matters most to people and being there when they need us.

Thank you to Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society for their care and partnership in supporting our community.

Twin Cities friends, we hope you can join us for this informative and inspiring event!

When Dr. David Hamlar visited Sabathani to speak with our staff in August, he opened some eyes!

“Lots of information I wasn't familiar with,” shared one staff member. Another said the conversation inspired them to explore donating blood again after learning more about the need within the Black community.

Now we're inviting the whole community to join the conversation!

Come meet Dr. Hamlar, Chair of the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Red Cross, and learn about sickle cell disease, blood donation, and how we can help save lives.

The American Red Cross will also offer hands-only CPR training, and we're giving away five $15 Target gift cards to the first five attendees to check in!

Wednesday, October 28 • 6–7:30pm
Sabathani Community Center – Banquet Room

Free and open to all. Refreshments provided!

So far, 16 Red Cross responders from across the Minnesota and Dakotas Region have assisted people affected by two major storms in U.S. communities that happened thousands of miles apart.

Super Typhoon Champi passed over Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) this past weekend, the third super typhoon to hit the islands since April. Just a week earlier and more than 8,200 miles away, Hurricane Isaias slammed into Florida, Alabama and Mississippi.

Your time and talent can give hope on someone’s darkest day. Learn more about volunteering at RedCross.org/givetime
