Lewis-Palmer High School wrapped up last week with their Harvest of Love Assembly!

It was a costume-clad celebration of Harvest of Love Week and the spirit of giving and generosity that was on display all week at LPHS, and across D38.

The rowdy celebration included fun competitions, lots of great costumes, and pies in the face for Principal Zick and several other staff members and students!

🌟 NATIONAL PRINCIPALS MONTH 🌟

October is National Principals Month, and all throughout the month we will be celebrating our dedicated school leaders and sharing some fun facts so we can all learn a little more about them!

Today, we are highlighting Principal Koryn Kessler at Lewis-Palmer Elementary School!

Fun Fact #1 - Principal Kessler is a Colorado Springs native and loves taking advantage of everything this beautiful state has to offer.

Fun Fact #2 - Principal Kessler is happiest when she's outdoors. That could be skiing, hiking, paddle boarding, gardening, or sneaking in a round of golf.

Fun Fact # 3 - Principal Kessler is a hockey mom to two kiddos. You can usually find her at Monument Rink. She says come say hi if you see her there!

Students at Ray E. Kilmer Elementary have a new place play, and the best part is that they helped shape it.

The entire student body gathered to celebrate their new playground with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 26. Principal Greg Saunders led the celebration with students Drake Schleiss, sixth grader; Joey Bimber, fifth grader; and Jubilee Glasco, fourth grader, playing a role in the event.

Once grant funding helped make the playground possible, district staff members collaborated with students to gather their ideas. Students started with a survey to see what their peers wanted, and then engaged in conversations with Melissa Andrews, Director of Planning, Facilities, and Grounds; and Ricky Vestal, Operations and Grounds Manager.

District leaders were present to help cut the ribbon and officially open the playground for business.

Earlier this month, the Lewis-Palmer High School and Palmer Ridge High School choirs joined voices for a combined concert under the direction of our Mrs. Madeline Douthit. Students from both schools shared their talents in an evening that celebrated the hard work and artistry at the heart of our D38 music programs.🎶

Experiences like these give students the opportunity to grow as musicians and be part of something bigger than their own school. They also bring our community closer with a wonderful night of music!

Thank you to Mrs. Douthit for bringing our choirs together and for the time and dedication she gives to our students and their musical growth!

▶Mark your calendars for December 7, when they will sing again at 7 pm in the LPHS auditorium.
