Blvfd is currently on scene of a trash fire. Update: Fire is out .
It is against local and state law to burn anything other than leaves and branches. This fire contained creosote boards which is against local, state and federal law to burn. Along with being illegal the smoke produced from the burning is highly toxic and can make people sick.

Today BLVFD had the pleasure of going to BLES and teaching fire prevention. We explained the importance of getting low and staying low, getting out and staying out, how to stop drop and roll, and what to do in the case of an emergency. We showed them our gear and trucks. We appreciate the school allowing us to do this and look forward to it again next year.
