We have several dates in November for community 6 months and older to come and get a flu shot at the Rosemary Recreation Complex! High-dose flu vaccine is also available for folks 65 years and older.

Join us for a free six-week group for parents and their babies (0-12 months) - Raising Together: Babies, Bonding, & Beyond!

The group sessions will explore meaningful topics with other new parents and provide a space for babies to play.

Sessions are Mondays 11 am - 12 pm from 10/19-11/23, held in the Needham Public Library Children’s Room.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗

Breast cancer awareness is an important reminder to prioritize your health. Here are three important ways to stay proactive:

• Know your risk: Talk with a health care provider about your personal and family history. Risk varies from person to person.

• Get screened: Ask your health care provider when to begin mammogram screening and how often it is right for you.

• Know what is normal for you: It is important to know what is normal for you. so you can talk with your doctor if something does not look or feel right.

Take a moment this October to prioritize your health and help spread awareness!

In observation of National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, the Needham Free Public Library will host the Needham Domestic Violence Action Committee’s (DVAC) silent witness display at the library’s Rosemary Street entrance from October 5-19.

The life-sized silhouettes on display serve as a memorial to victims of domestic violence and intimate partner violence in Massachusetts over the last year. Each silhouette represents a real person whose life was cut short by violence and displays their personal story and a QR code that directs people to support services for individuals impacted by domestic abuse.

Come get your flu shot with us at Harvest Fair!

The Charles River Chamber’s Needham Harvest Fair is happening this Sunday, October 4 from 11 am-3 pm on Greene’s Field at the corner of Pickering St. and Great Plain Ave.

This long-standing tradition showcases Needham-based businesses and community organizations while celebrating the fall season. Over 15 Town departments and committees will staff tables with information and be ready to answer your questions. This event is free and all are welcome!

Here’s a sampling of what you’ll find at this year's fair:

◾Get a free pumpkin from the pumpkin patch (while supplies last - so get there early!)

◾Enjoy bites from local eateries

◾Connect with local and state officials

◾Learn about the many opportunities to get involved in the community through local nonprofits

◾Get your flu shot from Town of Needham - Public Health Division (no registration necessary but your insurance card will be needed to receive a vaccination)

◾Climb aboard the Needham Fire Department’s truck and hang out with Needham Police Department’s Community Resource Dog, Rocket, and K9 Ghost.

Rocket visited the Public Health Division this week! He got his blood pressure and heart rate checked and received his seasonal flu vaccine 💉

Flu cases are beginning to ramp up for the season, so be like Rocket and get your flu vaccine!

The Needham Health Division will be offering flu vaccinations this Sunday, 10/4, at the Harvest Fair from 11 AM - 3 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, or register ahead of time using the link below:
