📣 Calling all Stuyvesant alumni in Boston and the surrounding areas! Join for our Stuy Tech Meetup in Boston as we head back to Formlabs for another great evening together. We’ll be gathering once again for a relaxed, in-person meetup with fellow Stuy alumni, students, and friends.

We’re especially excited to hear from Mike Zamansky ’84, often called the “Godfather of CS Education”, who built Stuyvesant’s renowned computer science program and has guided generations of students into tech.

After the conversation, there will be plenty of time to catch up, meet new people, and connect with others in the space. Light refreshments will be served.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former Stuyvesant High School Principal Stanley Teitel.

Mr. Teitel passed away on April 21, 2026, at the age of 77. He served as Principal of Stuyvesant from 1999 to 2012, a period during which he led the school with deep commitment and care for its students, faculty, and families. His daughter, Lauren, shared with us that “he had the best time of his life at that school with the entire staff, students, and parents.”

Those who knew Mr. Teitel will remember his genuine love for Stuyvesant and the pride he carried for the institution. His leadership helped shape the experience of thousands of students, and his legacy continues to be felt across our community. A senior staff member recalled him saying at the 2011 Open House, “If you choose Stuy, it will change your life.”

A Graveside Service and Burial will be held on Friday, April 24 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Road, Nanuet, NY 10954.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.

It also gives current Stuy students a clear view into how rigorous thinking, professional expertise, and principled leadership can be applied in service of the public good, and how careers in the public sector offer high-impact pathways for talented individuals.

📣 Stuy students, the SHSAA scholarship application deadline is fast approaching on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Apply here: https://bit.ly/4rLE5x5

These scholarships are about more than just the money. They are about knowing you have a whole community of alumni rooting for you. SHSAA scholarships are supported by Stuy alumni and friends. In 2025, 51 scholarships totaling $108,750 were awarded to Stuyvesant students!

Dania Bressler ’25 felt this when she received the Dr. Paul E. Kalish Memorial Scholarship. In her thank you note, she shared how Dr. Kalish reminded her of her own grandfather, "Pop Pop." He was a Brooklyn radiologist who never missed a single one of her violin recitals since she was four years old. Now at Cornell University, Dania is working toward becoming a pediatric neurologist, carrying that shared legacy of medicine and music with her.
