Tomorrow is Sweden’s National Day! 🎉🇸🇪
Last night, we kicked off celebrations with performances by , who sang the Swedish and American national anthems, plus an original piece devised with mathematical and musical intersections using rising global temperatures as the basis of the piece.
Consul General Erik Ullenhag emphasized the impact of the Sweden-USA relationship with an inspiring speech on Sweden’s diplomatic and innovative history. To close things off, he announced an innovation of our own: the Consulate has officially launched our new, exclusive beer, “SKÅL! At 600 Park,” brewed in collaboration with ! This Nordic lager is only available at our events at the Swedish Residence, or on tap in Evil Twin’s DUMBO taproom. Major congratulations to , who won the beer label design competition. 🍻
Sweden celebrates its National Day on June 6th to honor two monumental milestones in the country's history: Gustav Vasa was elected king on 6 June 1523, which laid the foundation for Sweden as an independent state, and Sweden adopted a new, important constitution on 6 June 1809.
Here’s to another year of meaningful collaborations and strong Swedish-American connections! 💙
