October is Manufacturing Month! 🏭 And what better way to celebrate than with our partner Evergreen: Your North Brooklyn Business Exchange at their Fall Mixer!

HFLS was excited to join Evergreen and connect with the incredible businesses and entrepreneurs that make up North Brooklyn's industrial and manufacturing community.

Through our partnership with Evergreen, we help local entrepreneurs learn about and access HFLS interest-free, no-fee Small Business Loans, providing affordable capital to help them launch, strengthen, and grow their businesses.

Once per month, our Outreach Officer Rayna visits Independent Drivers Guild to connect with NYC area drivers and answer questions about HFLS’s interest-free, no-fee loans for eligible low- to moderate-income New Yorkers.

Here she is at IDG this month, helping drivers learn how our interest-free General Needs Loan of up to $9,000 can help them cover essential expenses.

Last week, HFLS joined the Bronx Economic Development Corporation and the African Advisory Council of the Bronx for an Economic Empowerment Workshop at Chef Paul in partnership with the The Office of The Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson.

HFLS shared information about our zero-interest, no-fee loans and how our Small Business Loan program can help entrepreneurs access the financing they need to launch or grow their businesses and strengthen their communities.

Lori spent 30 years on stage. Now she’s building her next act. 🎭

For generations, immigrant communities have built institutions to help New Yorkers find stability and opportunity. A new blog post from Village Preservation explores this history of mutual aid and the organizations created to help newcomers build lives in New York City.

We’re proud to see the Hebrew Free Loan Society included in that history. The VP post highlights HFLS’s founding in 1892 by ten members of New York’s Jewish immigrant community, who pooled just $95 to provide interest-free loans to those in need in their LES community. More than 130 years later, that belief in using interest-free lending to build economic stability continues to guide our work.
