As though Halloween couldn't get even more fun, don't forget to fall back 1-hour this Saturday for the time change! This is a great time to change the batteries in your smoke/carbon monoxide detectors too!

Enjoy the extra hour of sleep!

Happy (early) Halloween! 🎃 The Village of North Aurora's recommended Halloween Trick-or-Treat hours are Saturday, October 31, 2026 from 4pm to 8pm.

The following are safety tips to remember as your kids trick-or-treat throughout our neighborhoods:

🎃 Children should always go in groups with adult supervision
👻 Treats should always be inspected by adults before they are eaten
🐈‍⬛Be sure to caution children to always look both ways and use crosswalks when crossing streets
🧟 If out at night, wear reflective clothing/have a light to keep yourself visible to motorists
🦇 Motorists, please be extra careful when you are driving through neighborhoods.

Have a safe and spook-tacular Halloween!

There's just about an hour left to come say goodbye to Pawfficer Zelda! Stop on by!

We invite the public (aka Zelda's adoring fans) to come say goodbye to the Goodest Girl at a retirement / open house event on Thursday, October 22 from 2-4pm at the North Aurora Police Department.

Pawfficer Zelda's handler is retiring (congrats, Officer Parr, on 29 years 🥳) and that means Zelda gets to enjoy retirement too. We have loved having our comfort canine in North Aurora and she will certainly be missed! Zelda has faithfully served the North Aurora community since joining the department in early 2023.

Come by the Police Department (no dogs, please!) to give her some last cuddles, pets and witness some adorable tail wags and floppy ears! 🐾

The North Aurora Police Department received a Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program grant administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Through this funding, officers will conduct additional traffic enforcement through 9/30/27 to help reduce crashes and save lives.

This grant helps us put additional officers on the road to address behaviors that lead to serious crashes. We urge everyone to make safe choices behind the wheel. Our priority is getting everyone home safely.

During this enforcement period, officers will focus on impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seat belt violations among others.

The enforcement effort will support “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” and “Click It or Ticket” initiatives. These high-visibility campaigns combine enforcement and public awareness to encourage safer driving.

The FY27 STEP grant period runs from Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027. Throughout the grant year, North Aurora Police will conduct additional enforcement, including during periods with a higher risk of serious crashes.
