PLAYGROUND UPDATE! *IMPORTANT* Repair work was completed today! The new rubber requires a 72 hour cure time with NO foot traffic. It is very important that nobody walks on the rubber during this period. Please help us get the playground opened as soon as possible by making sure nobody enters the area. We have a follow-up test scheduled for Monday. Assuming all goes according to plan, we hope to re-open shortly after!! 🤞 🛝

📢 BRC PLAYGROUND UPDATE🛝

We know many families are eager to get back to enjoying the new playground at the Billerica Recreation Center, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while we work through this process. We wanted to share an update on where things stand.

As part of a recent follow-up inspection, a couple of areas of the poured rubber playground surface returned results just outside the acceptable impact safety range. Out of an abundance of caution, we made the decision to temporarily close the playground until the necessary repairs could be completed.

We have been working closely with the installer and pushing to get these repairs scheduled as quickly as possible. We’re happy to share that repair work is scheduled to begin this Wednesday and is expected to take a few days. Once the repairs are complete and the surface has been retested to confirm it meets safety standards, we will be able to reopen the playground. Our hope is to welcome everyone back sometime next week!

We understand that the extended closure has been frustrating, especially for families who have been looking forward to enjoying this new space. We share that frustration and are just as eager to see the playground filled with kids having fun again. At the same time, making sure the playground is safe for everyone remains our top priority.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. We’ll continue to share updates here as we make progress, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at the playground soon! 💚
