MEET ZANE! 💙

Zane's journey with The Arc Marion County, FL began when he was just a baby in our Early Intervention Program. Today, at 11 years old, Zane is attending public school in a general education classroom!

His dad, Brian Wells, is a Marion County Public Schools teacher and a strong believer in inclusion. Brian wants his son to experience everyday life alongside his peers—to participate, belong, make friends, and be included in the same activities as other children.

Brian believes something important: It's not just about teaching individuals with disabilities how to fit into the community. It's about the community learning to embrace, understand, and adapt to having people with disabilities as part of everyday life.

Each year, Brian organizes a disc golf fundraiser to raise awareness for Down syndrome.

But there's something especially meaningful behind his efforts. Brian hopes The Arc Marion will still be here for Zane when he graduates and eventually ages out of the school system.

And that's exactly why our work matters.

Because the need for inclusion, support, opportunities, friendships, independence, and meaningful life experiences doesn't end when a child turns 18 or graduates from school.

The Arc Marion is here for the journey—not just childhood, but adulthood and every chapter in between.

We want to be here for Zane. We want to be here for families like his. And we want to continue building a community where everyone belongs, everyone is valued, and everyone has a place.

Thank you, Brian, for believing in inclusion, raising awareness, and helping make a difference. Zane, we're cheering you on!
