HAPPY NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY!

Today, we want to give a special shout-out to the brave men and women of Marlow Volunteer Fire Department! Thank you for answering the call, serving our community, and putting yourselves on the line to protect our families, our homes, and our neighbors. Your dedication, countless hours of training, personal sacrifices, and willingness to respond whenever duty calls do not go unnoticed. To every member of Marlow Volunteer Fire Department, past and present, and to the families who support them behind the scenes — THANK YOU! Also-we want to thank ALL first responders for their courage, dedication, and sacrifices. From our firefighters and law enforcement officers to our EMTs, paramedics, 911 dispatchers, and everyone who answers the call in times of need, we appreciate all you do to protect and serve our communities. Late night into the early morning hours, Marlow assisted the Medford Volunteer Fire Department at a structure fire involving a reportedly abandoned building. We are incredibly grateful for the strong partnerships we share with departments throughout our county and neighboring counties. While we may wear different uniforms and represent different department names, we all share the same mission: serving and protecting the communities we call home.
To all of our supporters, thank you for your continued support and for helping us carry out this mission. Your support means more than you know!

Different departments. One mission. One community.

In the rural areas of the county, fire hydrants aren’t always available near every home. That’s why the Marlow Volunteer Fire Department practices water shuttle operations during its weekly training. Firefighters use water tankers to transport water to the scene and transfer it into portable dump tanks. From there, a pumper truck drafts water from the tanks and delivers it through fire hoses to help extinguish the fire. This training helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to respond when a reliable water supply isn’t readily available.

đźš’ WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO KEEP A VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT RUNNING?

A lot more than people realize.

When the tones drop and our firefighters jump on a truck, you see the response. What you don’t see is everything it takes before that call ever comes in.

Fuel for the trucks.
Insurance.
Station expenses.
Radios and communication equipment.
Hoses and nozzles.
Medical supplies.
Breathing apparatus.
Turnout gear.
Rescue equipment.
Truck maintenance and repairs.
Training and certifications.
And eventually, replacing aging equipment and apparatus.

None of it is free.

Our firefighters volunteer their time. They leave their families, jobs, beds, dinners, holidays, and everything else behind when someone in our community needs help.

But volunteering their time doesn’t mean the department can operate without money.

đź’° This is where community donations become so important.

Every donation — whether it’s $10, $50, $100, or more — helps provide the resources our firefighters need to safely respond when someone calls 911.

Your donation can help put fuel in a truck.
It can help replace worn-out gear.
It can help purchase medical supplies.
It can help pay for training.
It can help keep emergency equipment maintained and ready.

And when the day comes that you or someone you love needs that truck, you’ll want it to arrive with properly trained firefighters and equipment that works.

A volunteer fire department is truly community supported and community operated.

We don’t just need your support when there is a fire.

We need your support to be ready for the fire.

So please consider donating to your local volunteer fire department. Attend fundraisers. Share our posts. Tell your neighbors. Encourage local businesses to get involved.

Because when you support your volunteer fire department, you’re not just donating to a department — you’re investing in the safety of your community.

Your donations help us stay ready. Your support helps us stay here.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and continues to believe in the importance of having a volunteer fire department in our community.

Congratulations, FF Noah Koski & FF Brandon Adams!

Please join us in congratulating FF Noah Koski and FF Brandon Adams on successfully completing their Firefighter 1 “Live Burn” training! Becoming an interior firefighter requires countless hours of training and dedication. Noah and Brandon’s journey has included classroom instruction, hands-on skills practicals, and now live fire evolutions each step preparing them for the challenges they will face as firefighters. Both Noah and Brandon are students in the newly developed Fire Science program at Roane State Community College, with goals of becoming career firefighters and continuing to serve our communities. We are truly blessed to have these young men serving alongside us at the Marlow Volunteer Fire Department. Their dedication to learning, improving their skills, and serving others is something our department and community can be proud of.

Congratulations, Noah and Brandon, on this important milestone in your continuing firefighter training! We’re proud of you both! 🚒

đźš’ Congratulations to Lieutenant Johnny Miller! đźš’

Please join us in congratulating Johnny Miller on his promotion to Lieutenant of the Marlow Volunteer Fire Department!

Lieutenant Miller joins our command staff after many years of hard work, dedication, and service to his community. Johnny began his volunteer firefighting career in the 1990s, stepping away for a time as life and his career took priority.

Now enjoying retirement, Johnny felt the desire to continue serving his community in whatever capacity possible. We are proud to welcome him back and grateful for his continued commitment to the Marlow community.

As Lieutenant, Johnny will be responsible for overseeing Station 2, the former Donovan School gymnasium located on Dutch Valley Road. Station 2 is an important part of our department’s readiness and ability to respond quickly to incidents, as it is strategically located within our fire jurisdiction.

We are excited to have Johnny stepping into this leadership role and look forward to the experience, dedication, and service he brings to our department.

Please help us welcome Marlow’s newest Lieutenant, Johnny Miller!

Congratulations, Lieutenant Miller! We’re glad to have you back!
