It finally looks like we're going to get some great weather on Sunday and the Pack is very excited to host our activities at our Greens Valley camp site.

Please join us at 5:30am. The Pack will have a campfire for S'mores and mountain pies. There will be a demo of some camping gear for the kids to see. Feel free to bring a camp chair and questions.

If you would like to meet a Pack parent at the PG Methodist Church, someone will be there about 5:10 and will leave at 5:25. You can follow them up if you are unsure or have a concern about getting there with the directions provided.

Directions:
The camp is on Greens Valley Rd. When traveling out of Pleasant Gap on South Main St (SR Route 144) and heading up the hill between Pleasant Gap and Centre Hall, Greens Valley Rd will be the left hand turn near the top of the mountain. The camp is approximately 1.4 miles from the turn. Greens Valley Road will turn from paved to dirt shortly after Ira Lane. There is a sign for Baden Powell Way which will be on the right and the yellow gate will be open.

Pack 23 Scouts had a good time completing the Liberty in Action adventure in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Scouts participated in a virtual tour of Valley Forge, shared how civic spirit and engagement is demonstrated in scouting activities, and played period era games. They’ll finish up the award with a community service project at the end of the month by participating in Scouting for Food. Looking forward to more adventures this fall. Join us next time!

Last night, our Scouts and new friends had a great time learning about first responders and heroes in our community. A special thanks to firefighters Marc and Becca and EMS staff Ben and Samual at Pleasant Gap Fire Company for their time spent teaching about emergency services. We practiced first aid, toured the facility and apparatus, and got to hone our fire extinguisher skills.

Email us at [email protected] to learn how your child can join in the fun.

Four pack 23 alumni have taken part in an adventure to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. The Philmont Scout Ranch is a high adventure destination where scouts learn to work together as a crew to navigate the backcountry. These scouts were on a 12 day 57 mile backcountry hike summiting Mount Baldy with an elevation of over 12,441 feet, the highest peak on Ranch property. They partake in some programming such as blacksmithing, working on replacing a railroad tie, COPE course, conservation project of maintaining a trail. They encounter every type of weather, most of it was when it was time for dinner. They saw many animals, even a bear walking close to their campsite during dinner one evening. The Pack is proud of these scouts for challenging themselves with Scouting America's premiere high adventure camp.

Eventhough it was a rainy Friday and Saturday the scouts had high spirits and alot of fun. The skies cleared for the races and were alot of fun to watch. The scouts were able to meet Todd Bodine, William Byron, lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance and able to go on pit road before the race on Sunday. Some of the dirvers were signing autographs for their fans and one scout was able to get 18 autographs.
