LAKESIDE FAMILIES & COMMUNITY — NOW COULD BE YOUR CHANCE TO GET INVOLVED!

JOIN THE NATIVE AMERICAN PARENT COMMITTEE!

We are kicking off a new school year, and we’re looking for parents, grandparents, family members, and guardians of Native American students to join our Native American Parent Committee (NAPC)!

📅 TOMORROW — Wednesday, October 21
⏰ 4:30 PM
📍 Lakeside Elementary School Library

Our first meeting of the school year is the perfect opportunity to get involved, learn more about the committee, and become part of a team working to support our Native American students and families.

The NAPC provides an important opportunity for families to have a voice in our schools, share ideas, bring forward concerns, and help guide efforts to support student success. We want to hear from YOU!

Why join?

* Have a voice in decisions and discussions that impact our students.
* Share your ideas, questions, and perspectives.
* Help strengthen the partnership between our schools, families, and tribal communities.
* Work alongside other families and school representatives to support our students.

You don’t need prior committee experience to get involved! Whether you’ve been wanting to participate for a while or this is the first time you’ve heard about the NAPC, we’d love to meet you!

Our committee needs parent and family representation, and now is the perfect time to join! Come to tomorrow’s meeting to learn more, get involved, and help us build a stronger committee for our students.

Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month.

Your voice matters. Your family matters. Our students deserve a strong team of people working together on their behalf.

We hope to see you tomorrow at 4:30 PM in the Lakeside Elementary library! Please spread the word and invite other families! ❤️🤍🖤

HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDANCE MAKE UP DAY:

High School Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Next Friday, October 23, there will be no school for students as Lakeside staff will be participating in a professional development (PD) day. However, the high school will have designated staff available to supervise students who wish to make up attendance time or receive additional academic support. As a reminder, students cannot miss more than eight (8) class periods per course each semester without being at risk of losing credit. According to the school handbook: “Students are required to maintain at least 90% attendance in each class. Exceeding eight (8) absences in a semester may result in credit being withheld.” You can review the full attendance policy here:https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1788735941/pwsd44com/lkb7rpr3dp7do4dper3c/Handbook2026-2027.pdf

We are now approaching the midpoint of the first semester, and we want to ensure all students remain on track to earn credit for their courses. Please remember that excessive tardies are also considered when determining whether credit may be withheld. Students who attend school on October 23 will have the opportunity to make up absences or tardies, depending on their individual needs and circumstances. We also ask that parents and guardians communicate with the school regarding all student absences. Providing documentation or explanations for absences helps ensure they are accurately marked as excused for reasons such as medical appointments, bereavement, or cultural events. Unexcused absences are more likely to impact credit eligibility. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our next make-up day will be November 20th, coinciding with parent-teacher conferences from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. A staff member will again be available to supervise make-up time and assist with schoolwork.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting student success.

Warm regards,
Carly Green
Principal, Lakeside High School
