Looking for chances to beat back the cold this winter, fill your belly, and make new friends? Check out the Esopus Library's Cookbook Club! We meet in the library's main room on the second Thursday of each month at 6 pm, where we sample recipes from a cookbook with other Esopus Library patrons. To sign up, stop by our circ desk to browse our current cookbook and copy a recipe. Not the best cook, but still want to join in on the potluck fun? We always welcome donations of plates, bowls, and plasticware and are happy to share our creations with other patrons. Check out what we've cooked up so far!

Join us this Thursday at 5:30 for another great night of music, poetry, and more at our All-Out Open Mic, generously sponsored by a grant from Arts Mid-Hudson ! We'll be featuring headliners Jo & Natasha - and if we're lucky, we may just see performances from regulars Roger and Lenny, Fuzzy Dunlop, and retired storyteller Shirley Dunwoody! Free as in pizza, and also as in speech - come join the warmest open mic community in the Hudson Valley - right here at your local Library!

Join us for our next Burroughs Brunch lecture series on Saturday, October 17 at 12:30 when Marist professor and Navy veteran Tommy Zurhellen will present a talk on his new book, "The High Road: Following the Campaign Trail for a Kinder America." Register here: https://esopuslibrary.libcal.com/event/17714904

In 2019, Navy veteran Tommy Zurhellen walked across America alone, to raise awareness on veteran homelessness and su***de in our country. In 2023, he embarked on another journey much more perilous: running for local office as a Democrat in the Republican stronghold of Dutchess County, New York. His platform? Kindness. His chances? Not good.

Can you win an election in America today with only kindness, and zero negativity? Tommy Zurhellen will speak on his book and experiences. Coffee and light fare will be served.

How many librarians does it take to rescue a wee little frog? This visitor was caught hanging out on our deck railing this morning and stayed to chat for a spell with our office admin Cookie and children's programmer Ellen - but the team safely relocated them to our front garden. 🐸
