JWT encourages you to get out and vote!

Kansas Inter Faith Action (KIFA) shared this thought: The scriptures remind us that God calls us to pursue justice. As we head to the polls on November 3, let us remember our shared values and commit to voting for candidates and policies that protect the most vulnerable among us. For as we learn in scripture, all people are called to protect the earth and all that is in it (Genesis 2:15, 1 John 4:7-8, Surah Ar-Rum 30:41).

KIFA along with their partners in the Kansas WEALTH (Water, Energy, Air, Land, Transportation, and Health) Coalition, are concerned about the haphazard way large-scale data centers are being sited and built throughout the state. They see real concerns regarding the economic and environmental impacts from infrastructure, air pollution, water consumption, and the cost of electricity, and they believe these concerns need to be addressed before Kansas allows these large-scale data centers into our communities.

Therefore, they are calling on elected officials and regulators on the state, county, and municipal levels to implement a moratorium on new large-scale data center projects until significant guardrails to improve transparency, local control, and responsible oversight of such projects can be developed and implemented.

If you agree, please visit bit.ly/ksdatacenters to sign the petition. And visit bit.ly/kifadatacentertour to be part of the conversation.
