If you plan to vote in the general election on Tuesday, November 3, settle one thing this week: which polling place is yours.

Exeter Township has 11 voting precincts. A precinct map is on the Township website, along with the polling sites listed in order by precinct number and a column showing which locations are ADA accessible. At least one precinct on that list is flagged as a change of polling place, so check yours even if you have voted in the same building for years.

🗺️ Find your precinct and polling place: see the Exeter Township precinct map below, and the location where to vote within your precinct:
https://cms3.revize.com/.../Board.../VotingPrecinctsMap.pdf

Check your precinct this week rather than on the day. Then share this so nobody on your street drives to the wrong building.

Polls are open 7 a.m.– 8 p.m.

Nobody enjoys pulling a permit. Here is what it actually buys you.

A permit is how a project gets inspected. Structural work, plumbing and fire systems that nobody checks become somebody's problem later, often the next owner of the house. Inspection is the point. The paperwork is the trail.

What Exeter makes available on the Permits, Applications and Documents page:
- The Building Permit Information Sheet, which lists what you must supply before a building permit will be issued.
- The 2026 Fee Schedule, published in full so you can see the cost before you apply.
- Building permit applications for residential, non-residential and miscellaneous work, plumbing permits, burn permits and conditional use applications.

The permit application is now a fillable form. Type on it and email it to [email protected].
Payment is due at submission, and cash, check or credit card are accepted.
Fire permits sit separately, under Government, Departments, Fire Marshal, Fire Code Documents.

Not sure whether your project needs one? Ask before you build, not after. Building, Zoning and Engineering can be reached at 610-779-5702.

Exeter Township loves its library. 📚

For the second year in a row, The Exeter Community Library had the highest circulation of any public library in Berks County.🏆🎉

During the peak summer months, the library averaged roughly 400 visitors each day and more than 20,000 borrowed items.

Those numbers tell a bigger story: people are showing up, discovering something new, and making the library part of their everyday lives.

We’re proud to have a community that continues to support and make the most of this important resource.

Exeter Township adopted a new Joint Comprehensive Plan on July 27, 2026. Here is the plain version.

What it is: the long-range plan guiding land use, parks and recreation, and transportation decisions, with a primary focus on the Route 422 corridor, including potential bike paths.

Who built it: Exeter Township with Amity Township, Douglass Township and St. Lawrence Borough, in partnership with the Berks County Planning Commission. Testimony at the July 27 public hearing described an 18-month collaborative effort involving elected officials, planning commissions, school districts, county staff and residents.

Why it matters: when a development proposal reaches the Board, this document is the standard it gets measured against.

The Board memorialised the adoption by resolution at its August 10 meeting. The SEAD Joint Comprehensive Plan is available for your review here: https://www.exetertownship.com/Public%20Notices/SEADJCP%20Final.pdf?t=202610161412360

Eight places in Exeter that belong to you.

Farming Ridge Park. Lorane Hollow. Mt. Park. Pineland Park. Amenities differ by park, and the full chart on the Township site shows what is where before you load the car.

October is the last month to get some good use out of these beautiful parks before they close for the season.

Aside from them, the Township maintains Exeter Scenic River Trail. Trout Run Sports Complex, the Dunn Community Center, and the Crestwood Rec Area year-round for residents to take advantage of.

It is budget season in Exeter Township, so here is how a township budget is actually built.

Each September or October the Board of Supervisors starts the budget process for the coming calendar year. The document is generated and finalised in the Administrative Office, where preparing and implementing the annual budget is part of the Township Manager's job, and it is adopted at a December Township meeting.

That sequence matters for one reason. The weeks where a question can still change something are the ones we are in now, not December.

What you can read while it is being built: the current year budget is published on the Township website, so is the most recent audited financial statement, and every meeting where budget items come up has an agenda posted the Friday before with the supporting documents attached. You can view the current year here: https://www.exetertownship.com/Exeter%20Township%202026%20AMENDED%20BUDGET-Final.pdf?t=202609171141430

Exeter also files a Municipal Annual Financial Report with the state Department of Community and Economic Development each year by April 1, and those reports become public once the state has completed its review.
