Thank you to Marsha Meyer, our Friends representative on the MMA, Meet MI Author committee, for facilitating a wonderful discussion with Bonnie Jo. Hearing a local author is a treasure.

And a second note of appreciation to Friends member Lindy whose baking talents always provides cookies for all of the MMA events.

Friday, November 13 between 4-8 P.M., 20% of sales at the Gull Road Panera Bread will go to the Friends of the Richland Community Library!

The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization of volunteers who help raise funds and awareness for the Richland Community Library.

The Meet Michigan Author committee welcomes Nicole Lintemuth on October 21st at 6 PM.

Nicole is the author of This Book is Dangerous, a reading journal designed to help readers fight back against censorship.

In addition to talking about her book, Nicole will discuss her life as a bookstore owner, how she became involved with the book censorship issue and how she navigates it all in the current sociopolitical environment.

The Friends of the Richland Community Library welcomes October with gift cards to our fabulous library staff to Gull Meadow Farms who also supplied us with donuts for our in person meeting. Knowing that many library supporters can’t attend meetings, our bylaws were amended to include electronic voting for staff grants.

Be on the lookout for the Library’s “Literary Scarecrow” which Friends granted funds to build.

Join us to watch a live stream of the Great Michigan Gathering kick off!

A conversation with Priya Parker, author of The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters.

What is the Great Michigan Gathering?

The Great Michigan Gathering is a free, three-year initiative that builds community through the art of intentional gathering. Inspired by Priya Parker‘s book, The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters, the initiative will launch on October 8, 2026, with an event featuring Parker at The Henry Ford. The event will be livestreamed to community watch parties across Michigan.

Through a series of free programs, resources, and partnerships, the Great Michigan Gathering aims to unite communities across the state. Each year deepens the work of the previous year by using a framework that builds on connection, awareness, sharing, understanding, truth, and growth.
