We have been incredibly fortunate to have Jim’s leadership and dedication serving on both our local CCECA Board of Directors and at the statewide level. His years of service, experience, and commitment to the cooperative have made a lasting impact. We are grateful for all Jim has contributed to CCECA, our members, and the cooperative community throughout Iowa!

IAEC Board President Jim Miller concludes his term on the Calhoun County Electric Cooperative Association board this week after the co-op's maximum 18 years of service, which means he must also retire from his statewide role. We thank him for nearly 5 years of guidance and leadership as he served Iowa's electric cooperatives with distinction and integrity. Read Jim's farewell message, which appears in the Sept. issue of Iowa Electric Cooperative Living magazine and online at https://www.ieclmagazine.com/featured-articles/core-values-drive-leadership-at-the-statewide-level

"While my leadership comes to an end, I am excited for what the future holds for electric cooperatives in Iowa. Please know that you are well represented on the IAEC board by a team of directors and employees who embody statewide core values and cooperative values every day. It has been my honor to serve my fellow co-op members in this capacity."

It’s National Farm Safety & Health Week! As harvest season gets underway, CCECA reminds our local farmers and agricultural workers that safety should never take a back seat to speed. Long hours and busy days can make it easy to overlook potential hazards—especially around overhead power lines.

- Look up and stay alert for power lines.
- Keep equipment at least 10 feet away from power lines in all directions.
- Use a spotter when operating large equipment near lines.
- Lower equipment and extensions before moving.
- Never attempt to move a power line for clearance.

Taking a few extra moments to stay aware can prevent a serious accident.

To all of our hardworking farmers, thank you for all you do for our communities. Stay alert, stay safe and have a successful harvest! 🚜

Safety is always a priority at Calhoun County Electric Cooperative Association!

Today, CCECA linemen completed their annual Pole Top Rescue Training, led by Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives (IAEC) Safety Instructor Brett Hansen. This hands-on training gives our linemen the opportunity to practice the skills needed to safely and quickly respond in an emergency situation while working.

We’re proud of our crew for their continued commitment to safety, training, and being prepared when it matters most!

⛈️ Be Prepared Before the Storm

Severe weather can happen quickly, and a little preparation can make a big difference. Take time now to make sure your family and home are ready before the next storm rolls in.

Keep flashlights, batteries and other emergency supplies handy, charge your devices, secure outdoor items and know where to go if severe weather threatens.

And remember, always stay away from downed power lines and report outages to CCECA.

Stay prepared. Stay informed. Stay safe! ⚡

CCECA was proud to participate in Farm Safety Day today with second grade students from South Central Calhoun and Manson Northwest Webster!

Energy Services Manager Curt Batta and Journeyman Lineman Chad Krukow taught students about ways to stay safe around electricity, including recognizing electrical hazards and staying safe around power lines. They also provided a live demonstration to show firsthand why electrical safety is so important.

Thank you to ISU Extension and Outreach Calhoun County for putting together a great day of hands-on learning! We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect with local students and help them build safe habits that can last a lifetime.
