Last night , the Roxbury Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on Williams Street in Succasunna after a neighbor reported flames coming from a window.

Roxbury Township Police Department arrived first and attempted to extinguish the fire. While responding, Battalion 2 requested a second alarm based on updates from police, bringing additional resources to the scene. Upon arrival, Battalion 2 confirmed a working fire. Crews extinguished the room-and-contents fire, which was contained to the bedroom.

The Roxbury Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire.

At the time of the call, department members were attending the back-to-school barbecues at Jefferson Elementary and Kennedy Elementary. Two of our ambulances were also stationed at Roxbury High School providing EMS coverage for the football game.

We apologize to the families at Jefferson Elementary and Kennedy Elementary whose children were disappointed when our fire trucks had to leave unexpectedly to respond to the emergency. We invite you to visit one of our firehouses to see the trucks and meet our members:

• Company 1 — Main Street in Succasunna: Tuesday nights, 7–9 p.m.
• Company 2 — Shippenport Road Landing: Tuesday nights, 7–9 p.m.
• Company 3 — Berkshire Valley: Wednesday nights, 7–9 p.m.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to welcoming you!

Last night, members of the Roxbury Fire Department attended the Morris County 25th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony.

We gathered alongside fellow first responders and members of our community to remember and honor all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, as well as those who have since passed or continue to battle illnesses related to that tragic day.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their memory, their sacrifice, and the countless acts of courage and selflessness shown that day and in the days that followed.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
