Our fire crews are doing some great hands on training tonight and tomorrow morning. THANKS to Pete Stevens from H&B Sales and Service for donating to us, the former J&J Sports Cards & Collectibles building on Gratiot. This allows our crews to train on tactics we sometimes can't practice on, without a building we can "break" things. Thanks Pete for the opportunity and for providing nourishment.

As you know, tonight not only is Halloween, but also the night we move our clocks BACK an hour. We will be handing out candy at both Stations again tonight from 5:30-7:30. Due to the safety of the kiddo's, we will not be doing our Bi-annual change your clock, change your battery promotion. We along with our partners at Eudici's Pizza, have moved this event to next Saturday, November 7. This will help avoid safety concerns of kids out trick or treating while a fire truck checks smoke detectors. Thank you for your understanding. Please continue to check your detectors ( both smoke and carbon monoxide). If you need a detector, please contact our office M-F 8-5 as we have some available, while supplies last.

Don't forget, tomorrow is your chance to "Creep It Real" by donating blood. Walk-ins are always welcome, or you can scan the QR code to schedule an appointment.

This afternoon we were dispatched to the area of Gratiot and Briar Hill for a wire down. Upon our arrival we had a pole on fire from the bottom of the pole, up to about 30 feet. Due to the level of hazards, we closed down Gratiot. A power company was already on scene working on this pole and advised all lines were energized and were high voltage. We used class B extinguishers to minimize some of the fire and once the power was disconnected, we were able to completely extinguish the fire. The power is out in this area and is expected to be out for the next several hours. We would like to thanks James Twp. Fire, Thomas Police, Central Dispatch, and the MMR Supervisor for the assistance.
