Today, changes to CalFresh work requirements take effect, impacting adults applying for and receiving CalFresh benefits. An estimated 93,000 community members currently enrolled in CalFresh could be affected by these changes.

As these changes take effect, we anticipate more neighbors will need support putting food on the table, increasing pressure on hunger-relief organizations across our community.

Now more than ever, we need your help. Your support, whether through donations, volunteering, advocacy, or spreading awareness, helps ensure seniors, families, and veterans continue to have access to nutritious food when they need it most.

Our CalFresh Outreach Team is ready to provide support and guidance to community members navigating these changes. If you have questions regarding CalFresh (SNAP), please contact our CalFresh Outreach Team at (858) 863-5177.

Together, we can help ensure no one faces hunger alone.

Today, on World Hunger Day, we’re reminded that hunger isn’t just a global issue. It’s happening right here in our communities.

As families face rising costs and impossible choices, food banks are seeing increased need while critical programs that help provide food and diapers remain at risk.

CalFood funding helps food banks provide nutritious items like meat, eggs, and dairy products that are rarely donated and becoming increasingly difficult to source through federal programs.

Additionally, California’s diaper bank network is at risk of shutting down on June 30 without action in this year’s state budget.

Food and diaper assistance are lifelines for thousands of families across San Diego County, but we cannot do it alone.

Join us in asking lawmakers to fund CalFood and California’s Diaper Bank Network so families can continue accessing the food and essentials they need.

San Diegans are counting on us. Contact your legislator today.

Yesterday, our team quickly mobilized to prepare support for the Community Action Partnership of Orange County following disruptions caused by the Garden Grove chemical leak.

We wanted to take a moment to recognize the incredible staff and volunteers who stepped up immediately when there was a need.

Your willingness to adapt, respond quickly, and stand ready to support our neighbors at a moment’s notice was an incredible display of teamwork, compassion, and dedication to our community.

Thank you to everyone who jumped in yesterday. Because serving our community starts with showing up. đź’š

This Military Appreciation Month, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country and recognize the lasting impact they make within our communities.

At the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, we are proud to support military families and veterans across San Diego County by helping provide access to nutritious food and essential resources during times of need.

As home to a large military community, our region is made stronger by the dedication, resilience, and contributions of military members, veterans, and their families.

This month and every month, we thank our military community for their commitment, strength, and service. đź’š

Taking San Diego's Voice to Capitol Hill!

Last month, Director of Programs Amy Eilts and Director of Government Affairs & Advocacy Andrea Caldwell traveled to Washington, D.C., to represent the Food Bank at the Food Research & Action Center's annual Anti-Hunger Policy Conference. Alongside advocates from across the country, they exchanged strategies for creating systemic change, explored ways to support military families facing food insecurity, and discussed how to assist households at risk of losing SNAP benefits under HR1, which proposes significant cuts to the program. They also met with legislators and congressional staff on Capitol Hill to advocate for policies and investments that expand access to nutritious food and support communities for San Diegans.

Because the work to end hunger here at home doesn’t stop at the San Diego County line.

What an incredible day of community coming together đź’š

From neighbors leaving bags of food by their mailboxes to letter carriers collecting donations across San Diego County, this year’s National Association of Letter Carriers' Food Drive to "Stamp Out Hunger" was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together.

We are anticipating more than 100,000 pounds of donated food, making this year’s drive an even greater success in helping support local families experiencing food insecurity.

Thank you to the incredible letter carriers, volunteers, supporters, and every person who donated. Your kindness will help bring food and hope to our community.

Through our College Hunger-Relief Program, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is helping ensure college students have access to the nutritious food they need to succeed, both in and out of the classroom.

Partnerships like the ASI of CSUSM, Cougar Pantry, help us reach students facing food insecurity and remove one less barrier standing in the way of their education and future.
