We celebrate love, identity, authenticity, and with the utmost PRIDE for our LGBTQIA+ community! As we celebrate this month, we also bear in mind that Pride started as a protest of resistance and rebellion not that long ago. 🌈

Our vision of socialism is rooted in an unwavering belief in democracy, equality, and collective liberation to build a society where everyone has the power to shape the conditions of their own lives. One of the oldest and most persistent barriers to true equality and self-determination has been patriarchy, reinforced and sustained by capitalism. The gendered hierarchies it has created influences our institutions, relationships, and culture, with their effects most visible in the expectations and roles assigned on the basis of s*x and gender. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

This Pride Month, we encourage you to read about the historical significance of the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot, the Stonewall Riots, the Lavender Scare, and other prominent events in LGBTQIA+ history. By recognizing the protests and struggles of q***r and marginalized people in the past, we recognize that rights are not given, but are won. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

It’s time for us to join our neighboring Bay Area counties and make Marin an “ICE-Free” zone. 🛑

This would legally prohibit ICE from using county property or resources to conduct its operations, ensure rapid reporting on local ICE activities, and require all law enforcement operating within the county to publicly identify themselves. We encourage those who attend to give a brief public comment calling on the Board of Supervisors to pass an ICE-Free Marin ordinance.

Thank you to everyone who attended Sunday's vigil at the Marin County Jail and stood in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors. To date, 40 people in our community have been detained by ICE; taken from their homes, seized while attending required check-ins, or apprehended upon release from the Marin County Jail. Together, we gathered to bear witness, raise awareness, and demand dignity and justice for all.

Help us keep the momentum up by joining the next Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, June 23rd, at 9:00 am. We encourage you to make a public comment and push the board to pass our ICE-Free Marin ordinance.

On Sunday, June 14th at 5 pm, head over to Pond Farm Brewing Co. and meet up with your fellow Marin democratic socialists! 🍺🌹✊

This is a family-friendly, informal social event, so come join us, grab some drinks and food, network with fellow comrades, and learn more about what’s going on in the chapter.

All are welcome, both current DSA members and curious non-members. Many of us will be wearing red, so you can spot us more easily. Bring a friend, neighbor, or the whole family.

See you there! 😎

Resist & Defend and Parent Voices Marin will hold a vigil outside the Marin County jail on Sunday, June 7th, to shine a light on the darkness that is happening in our community. In May, 11 Marin residents were detained by ICE. Since Trump took office, 40 members of our community have been abducted by ICE, from their homes, while going to their ICE check-ins, and when being released from the Marin County jail. This is not due process.

Join fellow Marin residents in solidarity and defense of our neighbors, ourselves, and the rule of law. Bring your signs, bring your courage, and bring your outrage. Solo el pueblo salva al pueblo. Only the people save the people.

📆Sunday, June 7th
⏰9 - 10 am

🚨IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

Tomorrow (5/19) at 9 am, the Marin County Board of Supervisors will consider a proposal to contract with Peregrine, a surveillance tech company founded and staffed by former Palantir executives.

Peregrine is tied to Palantir, a corporation known for its work with ICE, military targeting systems, and mass surveillance infrastructure. Community members have serious concerns about privacy, data sharing, and impacts on over-policed communities.

If you are attending the BOS meeting tomorrow, please make a public comment against the proposed contract!

Want to know more about how the DSA functions nationally and locally?

The national organization exists to support local chapters. While national staff handles various tasks, most campaign work is driven at the local level. Local chapters focus on issue campaigns, pushing for change through state legislatures, city/town councils, or ballot measures. Key issues include living wages, rent control, abortion protections, and childcare.

Ultimately, our goal is to use whatever leverage exists to implement broader change at the local or state level. Visit our website at marin.dsausa.org to learn more!
