Thank you Jessica Norelli and Salvation Army for your kindness!

🍩 👮🏽 👨‍🚒 Friday was National Donut Day! Members of Marin’s Salvation Army Advisory Board and awesome youth volunteers honored first responders and proudly delivered a dozen of Novato’s scrumptious Golden Creme donuts to every fire and police station in the county + Coast Guard and San Quentin.

💪🏼 ❤️ Learn about the SA’s role in Donut Day on the last slide. We love being part of an organization where everything we do, and every donation of funds, holiday gifts, diapers, and food items directly and exclusively benefit residents of Marin County in SO many ways. Interested in joining our efforts or learning more? Contact Jess.

Big Animals. Big plans.

When disaster strikes, horses, livestock, and other large animals need an evacuation plan too. 🐴🐄🐐

Moving large animals takes extra time, equipment, and coordination, so prepare before an emergency.

✅ Make a plan: Know where your animals can go and how you will transport them.
✅ Pack a go-kit: Include halters, lead ropes, feed, water, medications, and records.
✅ Identify your animals: Use tags, microchips, or another safe ID method.
✅ Leave early: Large animal evacuations take time.
✅ Create a buddy system: Coordinate with neighbors or friends in case you are not home.

June is Pet Preparedness Month. Prepare your animals, property, and evacuation plan before disaster strikes.

June is a great time to make sure your yard is both water-wise and fire-smart. 🌿🔥

Healthy, hydrated plants are more difficult to ignite than dry or drought-stressed vegetation. Take time this month to check your irrigation system, adjust watering schedules, clear clogged emitters, repair leaks, and make sure plants are getting the right amount of water.

A well-maintained landscape helps reduce wildfire risk and protects your home, neighborhood, and community.

🚴‍♂️ Firefighters Riding for Others

On Sunday, Southern Marin Fire District was honored to once again host the start of the annual Fire Velo San Francisco-to-Los Angeles Cancer Awareness Bicycle Ride at Station 1 in Sausalito.

Since 2006, Fire Velo has brought together active and retired firefighters from across the country for this week-long, 500+ mile journey to raise awareness about occupational cancer in the fire service, honor firefighters who have lost their lives to cancer, and support firefighter cancer prevention and wellness programs.

This year, 10 riders departed from Station 1 and began the challenging trek to Southern California, carrying with them the names and memories of firefighters who have been lost to cancer. Along the route, riders will stop to pay tribute to firefighters and their families while sharing the important message of cancer awareness and prevention.

We are proud to support this important tradition and wish all of the riders a safe and successful journey.

June is Pet Preparedness Month! 🐾

Emergencies can affect the whole family, including our pets. Make sure your four-legged family members are included in your emergency plan before disaster strikes.

Here’s how to prepare:
✅ Pack a pet go-bag with food, water, medications, leash, carrier, and ID tags
📸 Keep current photos, vaccination records, and vet information accessible
📍 Identify pet-friendly evacuation routes, hotels, or shelters in advance
🏠 Practice your evacuation plan with your pets so they are familiar with the process

When it’s time to evacuate, don’t leave pets behind. Plan ahead so everyone can get out safely — paws and all. 🐾

Once-in-a-lifetime ride to school! 🚒

A lucky Park School auction winner had a very special morning with the Engine 6 crew — starting with a firehouse tour, followed by a ride to school in a fire truck, and ending with a show-and-tell for classmates at Park School.

Thank you to the student, family, and school community for helping make this such a memorable experience. Moments like these are a great reminder of the connection between our firefighters and the communities we serve.

After seeing all the excitement in the classroom, we’re pretty sure we met a few future firefighters yesterday!
