Welcome to the West Seattle Chamber, The Works Seattle! ✨

What started eight years ago in a West Seattle kitchen has grown into a beloved creative studio serving thousands of students and now, The Works is coming home.

Opening soon at 4540 California Ave SW in the Alaska Junction, The Works will offer instructor-led workshops in printmaking, natural dyeing, embroidery, floral arranging, stained glass, and more. The new space will also feature a drop-in Maker Bar, where you can choose a project, create something you’re proud of, and leave with a finished piece for under $50.

With expanded retail, private and corporate event options, and set open hours, The Works is bringing even more creativity, connection, and hands-on fun to West Seattle.

We’re so excited to welcome The Works Seattle to the Chamber and back to the neighborhood! 🎨

⚡️Turns out networking gets a lot more interesting when there’s a balance beam involved!

Thank you to for hosting this month’s Business After Hours and giving West Seattle a chance to experience the heart behind one of the community’s most unique events. ❤️

From the obstacle course sneak peeks to incredible pasta from .soul, and tasty beverages provided by co-sponsor , the evening made everyone a winner!!

What makes Loop the ‘Lupe special is what it supports beyond race day. The event helps fund community programs through Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish that provide outreach and support for neighbors across West Seattle, proving that a little mud can do a lot of good. 🛘💪🏾

NO-COST OUTDOOR DINING PERMITS: add outdoor dining to your business!

We're offering help with the Seasonal Cafe permit process and waiving permitting fees for 100 businesses this summer.

We partnered with the Seattle Office of Economic Development to make this happen.

Outdoor dining can give your business more room to serve customers and make your storefront more visible during the busy spring, summer, and fall months.

This program lowers the cost for a limited number of businesses and offers support along the way. That can make it easier to test outdoor seating before making a bigger investment. We can help businesses understand the permit process, review site conditions, and explain what may be needed for an application.

Each location is different. Sidewalk width, curb space conditions, and other safety factors will affect whether a site can support outdoor dining. Some locations will qualify, and some will not.

If you are not sure whether your space may work, we encourage you to reach out early.

Apply and learn more on our blog or contact us at [email protected] for help: https://sdotblog.seattle.gov/2026/05/22/free-outdoor-dining-permits/

There is something so special about a room full of people showing up early in the morning because they genuinely want to be there to support West Seattle businesses. ✨

The Westside Awards brought together so many corners of West Seattle before most people had finished their first cup of coffee, and we loved watching conversations spark across the gorgeous The Hall at Fauntleroy. Thank you to all for making the morning feel so connected and thoughtful.

More photos are coming soon. Our camera roll is working almost as hard as the coffee did. 😉
