The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office made two significant arrests today involving a registered s*x offender and multiple outstanding felony warrants related to children.

On October 29, 2026, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division Investigators received information regarding Waylin Lee Wiedenfeld, a registered s*x offender in Guadalupe County who was not in compliance with his s*x offender registration requirements.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Wiedenfeld and took him into custody. He was transported to the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center.

On the same date, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division Deputies located and arrested Collyn E. Hazelwood on five outstanding warrants: two felony warrants for Child Grooming, two felony warrants for Indecency with a Child by S*xual Contact, and one warrant for Injury to a Child (Reckless-Bodily Injury). Hazelwood was transported to the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center.

"Our Investigators and Deputies are relentless in protecting our children. S*x offenders, there is no room for error. Comply with your requirements or go to jail. For those preying on our children who have not yet been caught, it's only a matter of time. We are hunting you, and you will go to jail as well." —Sheriff Joshua Ray

In January 2025, I made a promise to modernize and professionalize the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office. That meant raising our standards and accountability, and putting better technology to work solving crime. The goal was simple: prevent and fight crime in our county more effectively.

We made a concerted effort to target dangerous fugitives, while making s*xual predators and child exploitation a top priority. We increased arrests in almost every major category, but these areas improved the most. I believe they have made Guadalupe County safer.

Here is what our first full year shows, comparing 2025 to 2024:

S*x offense arrests more than doubled, from 43 to 91.
Arrests involving a parole violation rose 52%, from 77 to 117.
Weapon-related arrests rose 51%, from 111 to 168.
Fugitive and warrant arrests rose 21%, from 307 to 370.

And 2026 is not over. Through October 19th of this year, we are already at 153 weapon-related arrests and 94 arrests involving a parole violation, with more than two months to go.

More arrests do not mean more crime. They mean our deputies and investigators are out looking for predators and armed fugitives. Their hard work is paying off.

We don't wait for them to come to us. We go find them.

-Sheriff Joshua Ray

🚨Stolen Property Recovery and Arrests – AAA Storage, Green Valley Road, Cibolo🚨

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to AAA Storage at 6445 Green Valley Road in Cibolo after receiving a report of a two-tone Ford F-250 matching the description of a truck recently seen near several reported burglaries. The vehicle was reported to have stolen property in it that was being offloaded into a storage unit there.

Deputies located the 2016 Ford F-250 and identified the occupants as Joshua Thompson of San Antonio and Roselle McNew of Devine. Deputies found that Thompson had recently unloaded items into a storage unit. He was found in possession of a portable generator and other items previously reported stolen. All of the reported stolen property recovered in this case was taken during burglaries in that area of Guadalupe County.

Deputies also located two handguns inside the vehicle in Thompson’s possession. Thompson was arrested at the scene for Felon in Possession of a Fi***rm. McNew was transported to a local hospital for medical concerns and faces charges of Tampering with Evidence and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

This investigation is being conducted by the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from the Schertz Police Department and Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID).

The incident remains under investigation, and additional charges are forthcoming. Anyone with information about this case or recent burglaries in the area is encouraged to contact the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office at 830-379-1224 or submit an anonymous tip to Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-403-8477 or guadalupecountycrimestoppers.org.

🚨Registered High-Risk S*x Offender Arrested on Additional Child-Related Charges🚨

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Seguin Police Department, has arrested Emanuel Bishop Jr., a registered high-risk s*x offender, in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged Indecency with a Child.

Bishop was taken into custody on October 15 after investigators determined he was using a phone number and social media account that had not been reported as required under s*x offender registration laws. He was later charged with Indecency with a Child and Providing Ma*****na to a Child, both second-degree felonies. He is currently being held in the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center.

“In 2022, Mr. Bishop was placed on ten years of deferred adjudication community supervision, with no jail time, after pleading to three counts of Indecency with a Child by S*xual Contact. He is now accused of another offense against a child in our community. Every child deserves protection, and the penalties for crimes against children must reflect the lasting harm done to victims and their families. Our investigators, working alongside the Seguin Police Department, worked diligently on this case. I urge everyone in the justice system to treat these cases with the seriousness our community expects, and I urge lawmakers to strengthen penalties for crimes against children. This latest crime should have never happened.”-Sheriff Joshua Ray

Anyone with information related to this investigation, or who believes they may have been a victim, is encouraged to contact GCSO Criminal Investigations. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-403-8477 (TIPS), online at guadalupecountycrimestoppers.org, or through the P3 Tips app. A cash reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest or indictment.

We appreciate the continued partnership with the Seguin Police Department in protecting the children of our community.

We’re pleased to announce the successful conclusion of a Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office investigation that led to a federal prison sentence of more than 16 years for a San Antonio man who was dealing fentanyl in Schertz.

Daniel Mendoza Jr., 44, was sentenced in federal court to 200 months for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Our investigators began the case in 2025 after Mendoza advertised “cocaine, bars, and perk 30s” on social media and sold illicit pills laced with fentanyl and fluorofentanyl. He was arrested in January 2026. A search of his residence recovered additional controlled substances and a fi***rm he was prohibited from possessing as a convicted felon.

“Fentanyl is poison, and those who peddle it in our neighborhoods are trading in human lives. Make no mistake: here in Guadalupe County, we will pursue narcotics dealers aggressively and without apology, because the safety of our citizens is not negotiable. I am deeply grateful to the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy Marie Walker for standing shoulder to shoulder with us in this endeavor. I am very proud of the Investigators in our Special Investigations Bureau, whose skill and persistence made this case. When good people work together, our communities are safer for it.” — Sheriff Joshua Ray
