🎃👻 HAPPY HALLOWEEN, SHEBOYGAN COUNTY! 👻🎃

Our ambulance crews are trading sirens for sweet treats today (when they aren't responding to calls, of course)! We have 9 bags of candy packed up and ready to go for 9 different communities across our service area.

Our goal is to get as many crews out into your neighborhoods as possible to hand out candy, say hello, and celebrate safely with the families we serve.

Keep an eye out for our ambulances parked in your community during these local trick-or-treat times:

🕒 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
• Adell
🕒 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• Town of Sheboygan
• Sheboygan Falls
• Cascade
• Waldo
• Oostburg
• Cedar Grove
🕒 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• Howards Grove
• Kohler

⚠️ A Quick Note: Emergency response and community safety remain our absolute top priorities. Because of this, our availability will depend entirely on call volume. If you see us rolling out quickly with lights and sirens, we have to run to help someone—but if we are parked, please come by, say hi, grab some candy, and check out the rig!
We can't wait to see all of your amazing costumes.

Have a safe and happy Halloween! 🚑🍬📸 (Be sure to tag us in your photos if you catch a picture with our crews!)

🚑🚒🚁 A Great Night of Training and Teamwork!

Last night, Orange Cross Ambulance joined our partners from Cascade Fire and First Responders, ThedaStar | Flight for Life, and Aurora Regional EMS for an evening of hands-on training and education!

Crews participated in training focused on helicopter landing zone operations, trauma care, and vehicle rescue, providing a great opportunity to learn from one another, sharpen our skills, and strengthen the relationships between our agencies.

A big thank you to Cascade Fire and First Responders for hosting us and for the wonderful hospitality! We also want to thank our partner agencies, educators, and all the staff who took time out of their evening to participate and share their knowledge.

Training together helps us work better together when our communities need us most!

Happy National First Responders Day!

Today, we want to take a moment to thank the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS providers, first responders, and dispatchers who serve our communities every day.

At Orange Cross Ambulance, we're fortunate to work alongside so many great departments throughout Sheboygan County. We see firsthand the hard work, dedication, and teamwork that go into answering the call, no matter the time of day or the circumstances.

We're proud of the relationships we've built with our fellow public safety agencies and appreciate everything you do to keep our communities safe.

Happy Emergency Nurses Week!

At Orange Cross Ambulance, we're fortunate to work alongside some pretty incredible Emergency Nurses.

Our crews see firsthand just how demanding your jobs can be. From managing a packed Emergency Department and caring for critically ill patients to navigating the unexpected challenges that come with every shift, you have a lot thrown your way.

We appreciate the teamwork, the conversations at the bedside, the willingness to lend a hand, and yes, even the occasional humor that helps get everyone through a difficult shift.

The relationship between EMS and the Emergency Department is a special one. We depend on each other, learn from each other, and share the responsibility of caring for our communities.

To all of our Emergency Nursing partners, thank you for what you do and for the relationships you've built with our crews. We're proud to work alongside you.

Happy Emergency Nurses Week!

⭐ Celebrating Our Stars of Life! ⭐

Last week, Orange Cross Ambulance had the opportunity to attend the Midwest EMS Expo, hosted by the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin (PAAW).

This annual conference brings together EMS professionals and leaders from across the Midwest to share ideas, learn from one another, discuss challenges facing our industry, and explore opportunities to strengthen emergency medical services. It's a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues, gain new perspectives, and have meaningful conversations about the future of EMS.

One of the most important events of the conference is the Stars of Life Banquet, an evening dedicated to recognizing the individuals whose dedication, leadership, and service have made a lasting impact on EMS.

This year, Orange Cross Ambulance was proud to honor two of our own as Stars of Life: Gary Becker and Jane Krepsky

⭐ Gary Becker – Critical Care Paramedic / Field Operations Supervisor

With more than 25 years of service, Gary has responded to countless challenging and complex calls throughout his career. He has taken those hard-earned experiences and turned them into knowledge that he regularly shares with others.

Gary is direct, honest, and committed to maintaining a high standard of excellence. His crews know they can trust him, whether it's for guidance on a difficult call, an honest assessment, or the benefit of his years of experience. His dedication to doing things the right way and helping others become better providers makes him an invaluable member of Orange Cross Ambulance.

⭐ Jane Krepsky – Critical Care Paramedic / Human Resources Manager

For more than 25 years, Jane has provided quiet, tireless, and mission-focused service to Orange Cross Ambulance and her colleagues.

Throughout her career, Jane has served in nearly every aspect of our organization, including Communications, Operations, Supply, Fleet, and Logistics, and today serves as our Human Resources Manager.

Jane's extensive knowledge of Orange Cross and her willingness to help others have made her someone our providers know they can count on. She is a strong advocate for newer providers, helping them find their footing in EMS while supporting employees throughout their careers. Much of what Jane does happens behind the scenes, but her contributions are felt throughout our entire organization.

Gary and Jane represent two different but equally important examples of what makes EMS special: experience shared with others, leadership through service, and a genuine commitment to the people around them.

Their combined 50-plus years of service have helped shape Orange Cross Ambulance into the organization it is today.

Please join us in congratulating Gary and Jane on this well-deserved recognition as our 2026 Stars of Life! We are fortunate to have them on our team.

For every shirt purchased, $10 is donated directly to Sheboygan County Pink Heals to help support individuals and families in our community impacted by cancer.

We’re glad to continue this fundraiser for another year and support an organization doing meaningful work right here in Sheboygan County.

For ambulance services, falls are not a minor issue — falls are the most common reason ambulances are dispatched.

Many fall-related emergencies happen at home, and many risks can be reduced with a few simple changes:

Keep walkways clear of clutter and loose rugs

Improve lighting, especially near stairs and hallways

Wear supportive, properly fitting footwear

Use handrails and assistive devices when needed

Stay active to maintain strength and balance

Talk with your healthcare provider about medications, dizziness, vision, or balance concerns

At Orange Cross Ambulance, we see firsthand how quickly a fall can change someone’s day — and sometimes much more.

This Falls Prevention Awareness Week, take a few minutes to look around your home and help reduce the risk before an emergency happens.

🧡 Prevention starts before the ambulance is called.

Child Passenger Safety Week | September 20–26

Keeping kids safe on the road starts with making sure they’re riding in the right seat and properly secured every trip.

Under Wisconsin law:

Children must remain rear-facing until at least age 1 and 20 pounds

Children must use a forward-facing child safety seat with a harness until at least age 4 and 40 pounds

Children must use a booster seat until at least age 8, over 80 pounds, or taller than 4'9"

Parents and caregivers should also follow the height and weight limits provided by their car seat manufacturer and keep children in each stage as long as the seat allows.

🧡 Orange Cross Ambulance has a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician on staff who can perform car seat inspections as needed.

If you’re interested in having your child’s car seat checked, please contact Jeremy at (920) 912-3981.

Right seat. Right fit. Every ride.
