Well, we are coming up on budget season for the County and there are thousands of pages to go through, and I have some questions about capital planning items....
But I would be remiss if I didn't say, in this moment,

GO BREWERS!

Wow. Elections may be a month or so away, but the election season madness is in full swing in WI. There's a lot to consider here, many issues we have been battling for decades, meaning somehow we have lost the ability to compromise. Both parties. On issues that cross party divides like mental health, childcare, funding education.

I have a couple things I will be asking about at candidate debates this election season. And I hope you will join me...

What, if anything, are candidates willing to do about air quality? Bc we have done nothing. Nothing but roll back the simplest of protections like fuel efficiency in cars or coal powered energy plants. Shameful.

And, how in the world did the Knowls Nelson Stewardship fund die? This fund has been instrumental not only in protecting unique land for access to all, but in funding facilities that make these lands even more accessible like boardwalks and environmental education? How could that happen in the state that invented conservation and the land ethic?

Question. We are nearing the end of our first season of the county’s household hazard waste permanent site. Hosted by the Sheboygan County Planning & Conservation. I’m curious if any of you have used it? Have input, thoughts, ideas, suggestions.
I have been really proud of this initiative to reduce dumping of items in the county, and would appreciate any of your experiences with the program. Thanks.

Putting this on my page to follow up on and read agains. Sorry I have been silent for so long. Knee injuries, other things, but I am paying attention. And I could not go to the WCA conference for health issues. But I found this piece to be interesting and timely and I will be following up.
WI Eye should have video soon.

Well, this is not good. There are so many projects in our county that have been supported by these funds. This is popular program is not about taking lands off the tax rolls. It is about protecting unique ecosystems and providing access to WI amazing resources for all. Forever.
Spring conservation hearings are April 13th.
Let’s not let this happen in WI. Birthplace of the land ethic and EarthDay.

Senators failed to take up legislation addressing the state's land conservation program, likely spelling the end of the popular Knowles-Nelson program. See link below ⬇️
