Statement from White County Medical Examiner:

“The White County Medical Examiners office worked in conjunction with Sparta Police Department, Sparta White County Rescue Squad, and the Sparta Fire Department to remove the remains of a female from the old water treatment plant. The decedent was sent to the Middle Tennessee Regional Forensic Center for positive Identification and autopsy.”

No further details are available at this time.

White County received a donation of a new Firetruck which was given to Eastland Volunteer Fire Department! 🚒

This was a collaborative effort from several individuals to make this happen. So happy to make a contribution to Eastland and help move them forward. I look forward to more opportunities like this!

The “one vote short” episode seems to have happened in 1840, not during the final 1843 vote. In 1840, a proposal was put forward to move the capital to Murfreesboro. During debate in the House, someone proposed replacing Murfreesboro with Sparta; that amendment ended in a tie. Then a few days later, the Senate voted 12–11 to keep the capital at Nashville, with White County Senator Sam Turney changing his vote in Nashville’s favor.

In 1843, Nashville became the final, permanent selection.

The two walks were especially poignant for me because both causes have touched my life personally. I’m so blessed by my two rainbow babies, who bring so much life and erase a multitude of difficult seasons. Thank you to The Tribe Ministry and Brandy Nicole Abbott for organizing these events and raising awareness! ❤️

At last night’s County Commission meeting, senior members of the White County High School Band attended to lead us in a prayer, the pledge, and to be recognized for their achievements.

🎶 The White County High School Warrior Marching Band has recently been invited to represent the State in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC. Over the course of this season, they received Superior Ratings (the highest rating you can earn) at all competitions, and received the highest score of all bands in attendance at the Tree City Marching Festival. Additionally, the Percussion earned first place and had the honor of leading all of the bands in a parade onto the field for the “Full Retreat” at the beginning of the awards ceremony.

Congratulations to our exceptional WCHS Band!! 👏

Planning session at The White County Animal Shelter! 🐕 Progress made!

Great to meet the Barkplace4dogs and Shultz's Guest House representatives. Bark Place takes White County dogs BEFORE they are admitted into our shelter, where they are spayed and neutered by funding from Shultz. They are transported to Shultz’s Guest House for adaption. Shultz takes 700 dogs per year and White County makes up a large majority of that number. This partnership is at no cost to the tax payers and keeps our population at the shelter down. 👏
