🚒 Incident Update | Commercial Structure Fire – Ashby Road

Earlier today, crews were dispatched to a commercial fire in the area of Ashby Road. Through a quick and coordinated fire attack, the fire was successfully contained and extinguished.

We want to extend a special thank you to all mutual aid companies for their hard work and assistance on scene.

Fireworks Safety Reminders for Our Community:

Keep Body Parts Away from Lit Fireworks: Never place any part of your body over a firework when lighting it.

Be Mindful of Pets and Wildfire Risk: Fireworks can frighten pets, causing them to run away or become injured. Fireworks can also start wildfires,use extreme caution, especially in dry conditions.

Supervise Children: Never allow young children to play with or ignite fireworks, including sparklers. Sparklers can reach temperatures over 2,000°F and cause serious burns. Consider safer alternatives like glowsticks, popping streamers, or confetti.

Choose a Safe Location: Use fireworks outdoors in a clear, open area away from homes, vehicles, dry grass, trees, and other flammable materials.
Dispose of Fireworks Properly: Soak used fireworks in water and place them in a metal trash can, away from buildings and anything that can burn.

Follow Manufacturer Instructions: Always read and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

Monitor for Fire Hazards: Watch for smoldering debris or embers after fireworks have been extinguished, as they can reignite and cause fires.

Your West Overland EMS and Fire Protection District Paramedic/Firefighters have already had a busy morning responding to storm-related incidents.

⚠️ A reminder to everyone: If you encounter downed power lines, never touch them or attempt to move them. Always assume they are energized and dangerous. Stay a safe distance away, keep others clear of the area, and contact 911 or your utility provider immediately.

During the month of May, Your Paramedic/Firefighters of West Overland EMS and Fire Protection District have been focused on sharpening our vehicle extraction skills through dedicated training.
These efforts enhance our ability to respond effectively to motor vehicle incidents and deliver the highest level of care to our community.
