Stamford Man Sentenced to Additional Prison Time for Distributing Crack Prior to Reporting to Prison

David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that DANNY TURKVAN, also known as “Smooth” 55, of Stamford, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport to an additional 14 months of imprisonment for distributing crack co***ne after he had been sentenced in another federal case and prior to reporting to prison.
On August 13, 2025, Turkvan was sentenced in Hartford federal court to 46 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release for his participation in a southwestern Connecticut narcotics trafficking conspiracy. Turkvan, who was released on a $150,000 bond, was ordered to report to prison on October 16, 2025. An investigation revealed that Turkvan continued to distribute narcotics after his August 2025 sentencing. Stamford Police arrested Turkvan on state charges on October 11, 2025, and seized crack co***ne that he intended to distribute.
Turkvan has been detained since his arrest. On July 8, 2026, he pleaded guilty in federal court to possession with intent to distribute co***ne base (“crack”).
This investigation was conducted by the Stamford Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia Stolfi Collins.

🎃👻 HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS! 👻🎃

Halloween is all about costumes, candy, and fun! As our little ghosts and goblins head out for a night of trick-or-treating, the Stamford Police Department wants to remind everyone to stay safe!

🕸️ A few tricks to keep Halloween a treat:

🎃 Stay Visible: Wear bright-colored costumes or add reflective tape. Carry a flashlight or glow sticks so drivers can see you.

🚸 Cross Safely: Always use crosswalks, look both ways, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street.

👨‍👩‍👧 Stay Together: Young children should always be accompanied by a responsible adult. Older children should trick-or-treat in groups and stick to familiar neighborhoods.

🍬 Check Your Candy: Parents should inspect all treats before children eat them. Avoid unwrapped or damaged candy.

🚗 Watch for Traffic: Drivers, please slow down, stay alert, and watch carefully for children, especially in residential neighborhoods.

🎭 Costume Safety: Make sure costumes fit properly to avoid tripping, and use face paint instead of masks when possible to maintain clear visibility.

🏠 Stick to Safe Homes: Only visit homes with their porch lights on and never enter a stranger’s home or vehicle.

Let’s work together to make sure everyone has a safe, fun, and frightfully fantastic Halloween!

From all of us at the Stamford Police Department, have a safe and Happy Halloween! 🎃🚔

Stamford Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison for Trafficking Fentanyl and Co***ne

David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that BRANDON TURNER, also known as “Bizz,” 32, of Stamford, was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Sarah F. Russell in New Haven to 120 months of imprisonment and five years of supervised release for trafficking fentanyl and co***ne.
According to court documents and statements made in court, an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force and the Stamford Police Department’s Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit identified Turner as a narcotics distributor. In July 2024, investigators made a controlled purchase of fentanyl from Turner. On April 21, 2025, employees of an apartment complex where Turner had been employed as a maintenance worker found a tool bag in a storage room that contained approximately 790 grams of fentanyl and one kilogram of co***ne. The investigation, which included a review of surveillance camera and the use of DNA analysis, determined that Turner had placed the bag in the storage room. A related court-authorized search of Turner’s vehicle revealed additional quantities of fentanyl and co***ne.
On May 13, 2026, Turner pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.
The DEA’s Bridgeport HIDTA Task Force includes personnel from the DEA Bridgeport Resident Office, the Connecticut State Police, and the Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk, Stamford, and Stratford Police Departments. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel E. Cummings.
