🚨 Greene County CERT is Ready! 🇺🇸

The Greene County Community Emergency Response Team is all set up and ready to support tomorrow's 250th Anniversary Celebration! We look forward to helping make this a safe and enjoyable event for everyone attending.

🌞 Heat Safety Reminder: With hot temperatures expected, please remember to:
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don't feel thirsty.
🧢 Wear lightweight clothing, a hat, and sunscreen.
🌳 Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning whenever possible.
👶 Keep a close eye on children, older adults, and pets, as they are more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
⚠️ If you or someone around you experiences dizziness, nausea, excessive sweating, confusion, or stops sweating, move to a cool area immediately and seek medical attention if needed.

If you see a Greene County CERT volunteer during the event, be sure to stop by and say hello! We are proud to serve our community and help make this historic celebration a safe one.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and enjoy celebrating 250 years together! 🇺🇸

🚨 PSA: June is Move Over Awareness Month across the country and in Virginia🚨

We understand people are traveling for the summer and in a hurry to get to their destination. Our number one priority is for everyone to make it there safely.

When you see emergency lights, tow truck lights, utility vehicles, roadside workers, or disabled vehicles with hazard lights on the shoulder, Virginia law requires drivers to move over to a non-adjacent lane when safe to do so. If you cannot safely move over, you must slow down and proceed with caution.

Failure to comply can result in serious penalties, including traffic citations and, for emergency vehicles, a Class 1 misdemeanor/reckless driving charge.

One lane can save a life. Move Over. Slow Down. Stay Alert.

UPDATE: Roadway has been reopened.

🚨Tree down-2000 Block of Moore Road🚨

Please be aware there is a large tree blocking the entire road at 2146 Moore Road. We will update when the roadway is clear.
