As we enter the last week of October, we couldn’t let Principal Appreciation month pass without celebrating our very own Principal D’Eredita!

For the past five years, she has led Syracuse Latin with kindness, purpose, and a whole lot of energy. With a Celsius in hand, Ms. D’Eredita is always on the move - cheering on our Legends, supporting staff, solving problems, and finding new ways to make Syracuse Latin shine.

We are so grateful for the way she shows up each day for our students, staff, and families. She leads with heart, believes deeply in our school community, and is always looking for ways to help all of us glow a little brighter.

To celebrate, our students put together a highlight wall and a special video sharing what they love most about Principal D’Eredita - along with some very valuable advice about what they would do if they were principal for the day. 😂

Thank you, Principal D’Eredita, for continuing to LIGHT the way for our students and staff and for helping Syracuse Latin glow brighter every day!

We are beyond appreciative for the level of support and engagement of our staff! They are dedicated, united, committed, and kind!!

Last week, PE Teacher, Meghan Goodness was recognized by Cornell Cooperative Extension and received the 2026 Cooperator of the Year Award for her dedication to Health and Nutrition!

Sixth Grade Science Teacher, Kelly McCann brought a group of our 6th graders to the MOST to compete in the CNY Catapult Challenge, where they had the opportunity to represent SCSD and be scientists for the day!

Thank you to both of these Legendary Educators for your passion and commitment to our scholars and school community!

It’s time to catch up on some of the Legendary Action we have happening at Syracuse Latin! Our staff and students continue to LIGHT the way, and we are growing brighter every day!

Our Middle School Crews participated in Chalk the Walk and created positive messages on sidewalks around the building in recognition of Su***de Awareness Month.

THANK YOU to National Grid for your generous donation of supplies for our classrooms!

Students were able to enjoy some time in the sunshine for collaboration and fun!

How cool is this?! 🎶

This past weekend, current and former Syracuse Latin students competed in a local band competition and took home first place! Our Legends make up nearly 40% of the Pride of SCSD Marching Band - and several are even stepping into leadership roles!

The band is only in its second year competing in the field band circuit and has already been consistently placing first in its class. We love seeing so many of our current and former band and orchestra students continuing to do what they love, represent Syracuse Latin, and, of course, LIGHT the way!

Check out our Legendary Scientists in action!

6th grade Science students started their year with a series of Engineering Design challenges.

8th grade scholars engaged in their first lab for Life Science:Biology. Celebrate our 8th graders and provide continued encouragement- ALL of them are taking this course, which is typically not offered until 9th grade and provides them an opportunity to earn a credit toward graduation! They are off to a legendary start!

How great do our sixth-grade scholars look?! This week, local filmmaker and photographer Solon Quinn visited Syracuse Latin to speak with our sixth graders about how photographs can connect us to our human stories and what inspires him as he looks for places of encounter- where people, nature, and cultures intersect. This special experience supports our sixth graders’ yearlong Social Studies inquiry project and brings their learning to life in a meaningful way. Nothing beats hands-on learning with talented members of our community!

Week 2 is in full swing, and I was able to catch our scholars lighting the way in a few spaces today!

Fourth graders in Ms. Nielsen’s class went through the QRT protocol during Social Studies, as they engaged in inquiry to kickoff their new unit.

Students and staff from Mrs. Klementowski’s class practiced using racquets with Mr. Artura and Mrs. Goodness to improve hand-eye coordination.

7th graders in Mr. Alberts’ Crew circled up to finish their day on a positive note!
