The voices are getting louder. 🎥📲

Young people across Hillsborough County are stepping in front of the camera to talk about the issues that impact their generation — from bullying and violence to mental health, peer pressure, respect, and making positive choices.

The Safe Summer Series Social Media Challenge is more than a competition. It’s an opportunity for youth to create, speak up, and use social media for something bigger.

Teams are getting ready, videos are coming, and once the challenge officially begins, YOU will help decide who rises to the top. 👀🏆

Stay tuned for the official launch and get ready to support your favorite teams.

Week 2 of Streets 2 Success focused on how our decisions shape our destinies. Through honest conversations about peer pressure, accountability, and thinking before reacting, youth explored how one choice can change the direction of their future.

Thank you to powellsfoundation for creating a space where young people can learn, reflect, and make positive choices.

Real discussions about real issues. 💙💚

During the first Streets 2 Success session with Daniel Powell , young people were given space to have honest conversations about the choices, influences, and consequences that can shape their lives.

From understanding why young people may be drawn to gangs and the false promises that come with street life, to discussing gun violence, social media influence, respect vs. reputation, and the impact these decisions can have on victims, families, and entire communities, this conversation was about looking beyond the moment and thinking about the future.

That’s what Streets 2 Success is about: creating a space where youth can ask questions, hear real experiences, challenge the way they think, and leave with something they can carry with them.

Because sometimes one real conversation can change the direction of a life.

Real talk. Real solutions. Real change.

Shoutout to Powells Foundation for creating opportunities for our youth to learn, reflect, and build a future worth fighting for. 💚

As part of Black Tampa Historians Unlock Your Legacy experience, youth took part in a walking tour with Jamila Davis of “What it Was Tampa Walking Tour” learning how redlining and Jim Crow laws shaped where Black families could live, gather, and build community in Tampa.

Understanding the history behind our neighborhoods gives young people a deeper understanding of the systems that shaped them and the legacy they have the power to carry forward.

Know your past. Understand your community. Unlock your legacy. 🖤❤️💚

09/06/2026

As part of Black Tampa Historians Unlock Your Legacy experience, youth watched BLINK: A Gun Violence Prevention Short Film and participated in a guided talkback with Ashley Morrow.

The conversation encouraged young people to think critically about choices, consequences, conflict, and how one decision can impact the direction of their future.

Know your past. Make positive choices. Build your community. 🖤❤️💚
We are proud to support meaningful youth violence prevention conversations through the Hillsborough County Youth Violence Prevention Mini-Grant Program and Safe & Sound Hillsborough.
