His life came to an end on March 31, 1783, when he was bayoneted and shot to death by Captain John Stewart.

Tomorrow evening, the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) is hosting their Fall Open House. On display will be one of our State Supreme Court cases, Mercy Hill v. Dr. William Liddel. The document is a habeas corpus case where Mercy Hill sued her enslaver for her freedom. We sent the case to be conserved due to its fragile nature and immense historic value.
